trying to actually recall everything that happened because this was all just such a blur
woke up at 7:30 and got dressed and rushed kevin + mommy into the car!
lined up at 8:45 because that’s when they told us to get there but really we had all this extra time after that to just stand and talk for another 45 minutes how lame
i never realized how dumb graduation caps are. mine didn’t stay on my head at all and i just couldn’t wait to take it off after the ceremony :’(
idk the whole ceremony was kind of a blur to me.. i liked anshul’s speech though, and it was really cute seeing everyone’s signs and cheering for people
it was really hard for me to hear people though. a bunch of people asked if i heard them cheering for me after graduation, but when i was up getting my diploma i couldn’t hear anyone at all. it’s actually pretty hard to hear people unless one person yells something really loudly or unless there’s a GIANT crowd cheering. generic claps and cheers get drowned out really easily i guess
i did however hear someone yell “go cynthia” really loudly. it was either kitty or rikki (it was someone who was up right next to the stage) and that made me smile :)
none of the ceremony really felt like a graduation though. it honestly felt like i was sitting and watching someone else graduate (and it didn’t help that at last year’s graduation i was also sitting on the field)
after the ceremony and after i pulled off my cap, we all got herded into the field house, then herded out of the field house and then the chaos ensued
i thought LAST YEAR’s grad was chaotic but it really is different when you’re the one graduating and you want to take a picture with EVERYONE
i can’t even explain how sweaty and how crowded in i felt, but it was in a nice way because it meant there were so many people who wanted to see me!
and i actually didn’t even really think that many people would show up and get me stuff, especially because i don’t actually know that many underclassmen, but i got posters from my three favorite sophomore boys (nathan lian and jonfun) and from the gross yearbook juniors who made me an inappropriate poster!!
"cynthia shen gets all da men" WHAT the.. at least my mom didn’t understand it LOOL. what’s awkward is that i didn’t realize i was holding that poster up in about 2/3 of my photos, including ones with some other guys, so i have a bunch of pictures with me and guy friends while i’m holding a poster saying that i get all the men…
but anyway
the juniors also got me flowers and my mommy got me flowers too
and then of course, what was great was that michaela showed up to my grad too (without a ticket even, so she actually ended up standing off to the side to watch :’( ) and i felt bad for her because i really wanted to talk more with her but there were so many other people interrupting our conversation to get pictures that i really didn’t get a chance to talk to her. but she bought me hydrangeas in teal (my favorite color oh my) and it was so cute
oh and arnon came and he got me a small gift with a picture of my face on it too and it was really nice of him to remember our graduation and to get us stuff!
the downside i guess was that it was so hard to move around and i had like 0 free hands because i was holding so much crap
but it was so lovely and wonderful and even though i don’t actually know that many underclassmen, the ones i do know all happened to bring me stuff and it was great <3
my brother was really patient and kinda became my personal photographer throughout the whole thing
i probably stayed around and took photos for a good hour to an hour and a half before i finally left to get lunch with kevin & mommy!!
we went to los gatos cafe because it’s on the way to my house, and the food there was so nice! i got a benedict and my mommy got a salad and my brother got a burger and we all shared a smoothie and some sort of pumpkin bread and it was kind of like a brunch-lunch but it was so yummy
after that i got home and uploaded photos off my phone and then i wanted to take a nap before sanp but instead i spent like a couple hours just looking at graduation photos which was so cute
okay and then at 5 i finally decided to take a nap and i fell asleep for a couple of hours before waking up and eating a quick dinner
leon and felix weren’t going to sanp so they wanted to borrow my board game (seven wonders) to play, and then they were like “ok why don’t you and tyler/kevin just come join us until sanp starts”
and i guess anna invited herself too or something (???) and we all showed up at leon’s house except we showed up at like 8:30 even though he told us to come at 8 and because we were all so late, leon and felix left to get food LOL
so anna and tyler and kevin and i played brawl at his house until they showed up, and then we played board games for a couple of hours (we played bang and kevin/tyler basically came to a tie and it was so intense and basically it seemed like it would take ages for either of them to win…)
but anyway at 10:30 we were like “ok we should probably go to sanp now… it started like almost 2 hours ago…” so we got there and it was late but it was fine LOL
anna and i played poker but i got out semi-quickly so anna was like “you can go if you want and i’ll find you later” so i ended up leaving the table but then i got kinda lost / didn’t know what to do so i started wandering and i bumped into daniel lim
i thought it would be weird because i don’t NORMALLY hang out with daniel, but at the same time i’ve known him for a pretty long time and we’re pretty chill with each other / we get along pretty easily, so it actually didn’t feel weird at all that we were just walking around together
he told me he was gonna go look for mathew and i was like “oh i’ll go play blackjack or something” cause i thought he was hinting that he wanted to go hang out with his friends instead of randomly wandering around with me, but he was like “okay can we go look for mathew first though and then we can all play blackjack together” and i was like oh okay..!!
we played blackjack at mathew’s dad’s table and his dad is actually so cool HAHA like he was entertaining and he made conversation with us and everything
and we played ping pong (i sucked and daniel is HELLA good and it just was not a very fair match LOL i think he was going really easy on me on purpose)
and then we played some carnival games, which daniel was actually quite good at. i think he won like 2 games?
and we got some food and watched some karaoke (mihir rapped can’t hold us which was actually pretty good)
and then daniel and i went on the zipline together which was funny cause he’s super tall and i’m not. zipline was kinda scary at first (the part where you step off is scary) but when you’re actually going down it’s really fun
at this point i think we ended up joining together with christine & karen & angie & mathew & sarah im, and we all went to karaoke together and watched people sing
karaoke was actually so horrible because all these guys were picking such bad songs (like explicit rap songs with lots of swearing and offensive language)
like literally, edward ang & garrett sang “fucking problems” which is not okay.. like even the title of the song is just not okay… and it was so loud and everyone could hear it and the chaperone in charge of karaoke didn’t even care
but then finally a different chaperone came and told us that was unacceptable so they started singing different songs which was more fun
yeon (who’s this semi quiet girl in my lit class) went up to sing a song and i was like “dude is she actually gonna sing because she doesn’t even talk that much” and she chose a kpop song and i groaned and thought it was gonna be really bad because she’s this quiet korean girl but she wanted to sing kpop
and don’t get me wrong, she’s really nice and i like her a lot actually, but she didn’t seem like the type to really do karaoke. plus i’ve never been that big of a fan of kpop
but she started singing fantastic baby and it was actually really good, especially because she got really into it and because it’s a catchy song
and soon the whole audience started getting really into it and we all started dancing and it was actually so much fun and everyone even cheered really loudly afterward and it made me really happy
i think we played blackjack after that at a different table, and the dealer at that table was pretty nice too. he even showed us a magic trick which was really impressive!
i think it was at this point that i left this group and went and played poker with other people. i think i ended up getting 3rd that time which was okay
and i quickly cashed in my tickets for some random picnic set or something. idk it was kinda not that useful, but it was cute and i liked it so if i ever go on a picnic i guess i have some materials! (like a basket and some trays and serving containers and a jug for lemonade and stuff like that)
and at that point it was like 3 am and i was like o shit the raffle is ending soon and i didn’t enter any of my tickets yet (i got 10 free raffle tickets i think for buying my sanp ticket early?) so i kinda just entered them in random things that i didn’t even remember entering them in (like just stuffing them in random boxes)
and after that i went on the zipline again LOL and then i bumped into COWSEY!!! <333 so we talked and i ended up dragging her trying to get her to go on the bungee jumping thing with me
she didn’t go though so i ended up going on myself, and i was actually so lame LOOL like in the beginning i couldn’t even get myself to jump more than like a foot off the trampoline, but then i started getting higher and higher and then people started trying to get me to do flips, which was SO DIFFICULT LOL like the first time i tried to do a flip i couldn’t even get myself to go all the way around, but then i tried some more and i was able to actually do maybe like 3 or 4 flips and it was actually really fun
BUT LOL IT WAS ACTUALLY SO MUCH MORE TIRING THAN I THOUGHT like i was actually so tired afterward and that’s really sad
after that it was almost like 4 am, so the raffle was starting soon so tyler and kevin and i went together and sat there and we were all so exhausted and i was actually falling asleep and i told tyler to wake me up if i won anything
but then i told him that i’ve never won a raffle before in my life, and that the one time i did win a raffle, i wasn’t there to get my prize. like they held it for me for a week but no one ever told me i won so i just never went and got it and they gave it to someone else?? :’(
but anyway, i was sure that i wasn’t gonna win anything and i told tyler i was gonna take a nap, and then right then they called my name and i was so startled LOL but i ended up winning a magic bullet, which i didn’t even remember entering my name for but that got me pretty excited because i remember seeing infomercials for the magic bullet when i was little and that was like my favorite commercial because it was almost like a cooking show HAHA
afterward tyler and kevin and i grabbed a quick breakfast and then picked up the rest of our stuff from coat check and left
i had to ask for help from them & from kitty’s mom to get all of my shit because it was so hard to carry everything because i actually won too much stuff… LOOL
plus they gave us all little graduation gifts (an mv blanket!!) so i had even more stuff to carry
but my mom came and picked me up and i got home safe and sound thankfully, and i watched the sunrise on my way home LOL
and finally i passed out in my room at almost 6 am sigh
i had such an eventful day and it felt so short and so long at the same time, but i had a lot of fun and it was great hanging out with so many people one last time at mv together :)
