Bainbridge Island Tasting Night

Russell Everett, Brewmaster/Co-Owner, will be here tomorrow. Bainbridge Brewing was started by father and son duo, Chuck and Russell Everett.  As long-time beer lovers, what’s more fun than brewing your own craft beer, winning top awards for producing great beer, and enjoying it with others.  Like many brewmasters, Russell Everett was a homebrewer for over 10 years with a love for experimenting and a fascination for all things beer.  Along the way, he worked in a brewery, judged beer competitions, and won his own medals.  Now starting its 4th year, Bainbridge Brewing is producing great, award-winning craft beer including the beers that you can taste or take home here at The Beer Junction. The brewery’s philosophy is simple: use the very best ingredients, as locally sourced as possible, to make well-made, well-balanced beer.  But don’t be afraid to experiment.  Making great beer requires a combination of art and science.  Science, in knowing what the gear and ingredients can do.  Art, in imagining what great beer can be.  Whether its excellent versions of classic styles or boundary pushing experimental brews, Bainbridge always strives to blend the art and science of beer.  You can taste the difference in our fresh craft beer, brewed with the highest quality ingredients, sourced from NW and BC maltsters, and Yakima and Willamette Valley hop growers.  Winning several Washington Beer Awards medals in our first two years is proof that attention to detail and quality ingredients really matter. Bainbridge produces a wide range of great craft beer, including six year-round beers, four seasonal beers, and 10 specialty one-batch beers.  Also, the brewery’s barrel program is producing some great barrel aged, sour beer, and other rare releases.

The following 5 beers will be on tap for the tasting event for only $4:

3rd Anniversary Barrel Aged Doppelbock  Eagle Harbor IPA Kommuter Kolsch 3-T Rye Tripel Dawn Simulator Wheat IPA

Stone Brewing “Ruination Nation” Tasting
+ rare beers

Stone Brewing Co. was founded in 1996 by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner in San Marcos, CA (in the same location that Port Brewing / The Lost Abbey are located currently) with a production capacity of 960 barrels per year. In 1997 they were producing 2,100 barrels of beer, including their infamous Arrogant Bastard Ale (which was released November 1st of that same year), and their success continued until they maxed out their ability to make any more beer in their current facility in 2005. They moved to their new home, Escondido, in December of 2005 in an effort to produce more beer and they did just that. From 2005 to 2013 they saw an increase from 36,000 barrels per year to 213,000 barrels per year making them the 10th largest craft brewery in the United States. They are currently distributed to 40 states and have limited distribution to Japan, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, United Kingdom and Sweden. And, in July of 2014 they announced plans to be the first American craft brewery to own & operate a brewing facility in Europe with their Stone Brewing Co. Berlin location.

The following 6 beers will be on tap during the event- five of which will be part of the weekly tasting

Ruination 2.0 RuinTen Triple IPA Double Dry-Hopped Ruination 2.0 Aqua Dog Barley Wine Blend Cali-Belgique IPA aged in Red Wine Barrels Reason Be Damned Abbey Style Ale aged in Red Wine Barrels

Bainbridge Brewing Tasting Notes
Sample the below 5 beers for just $4 from 5-8PM on Thursday, June 25th!
Brewed in honor of the rain-huddled masses whose daily commute revolves around the Washington State Ferries, Kömmuter Kölsch is a light, malty German-style ale brewed like a lager for maximum clarity and a bright, clean, refreshing taste. Victory to the Ferrytariat! 5.0% ABV

Once the site of the world’s largest sawmill, 3-T Road winds down to the old mill site on Blakely Harbor. Our 3-T Rye Tripel is brewed in the style of Belgian Monastery Tripels, but with a few new twists. For extra spici-ness, we add a bit of rye to the mash. For added character, we used less-refined turbinado sugar instead of imported Belgian candi sugar. Floral and spicy hop notes come from American-bred Noble hop varieties. 8.5% ABV

It’s Spring in the Pacific Northwest. Sunshine is a distant memory, obscured by endless grey. But cheer up! We’ve simulated that whole “solar experience” thing with a seasonal wheat IPA! Light and hazy, it’s a bright, hoppy pick-me-up after six months of drizzle. Featuring new experimental hop ADHA 527! “Don’t be S.A.D., have a Dawn Simulator!” 6.0% ABV

Eagle Harbor is our award winning interpretation of a true Northwest IPA. Run through whole leaf Cascade hops in our hopback then generously dryhopped with four different hops, Eagle Harbor presents a firm hoppiness supported by a balanced malt backbone. 6.0% ABV

3rd Anniversary Whiskey Barrel Aged Doppelbock
For our 3rd Anniversary we brewed something unique – a big barrel aged lager.  The result is an immense, complex, malty, whiskey-tinged beer that will age with the best of them.  Malt: German Pilsner, Vienna, Munich, Munich II, Caramel Rye, Carared, and Blackprinz.  Hops: Sterling.  Barrels: Tennessee Whiskey. 9.5% ABV

(every Sunday 10am-2pm)

The market is now on week 3 in their new location on California Avenue, between Alaska and Oregon. Check out the new location and vendors, then stop by The Beer Junction and get out of the 80+ degree heat! You can partake in the market from 10am-2pm, and we are now open at 10am on Sundays. Check out our Farmers Market drink specials below, including mimosas, root beer floats, and more!

The first keg of our 5th Anniversary beer – Cinq Houblon Saison – brewed by our friends at Sound Brewery will be tapped at 5PM!

Cinq Houblon is brewed with a high fermentation using a blend of traditional Saison yeast. To celebrate our 5th Anniversary, Sound Brewery used 5 aromatic hops (Pekko, Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin) to compliment the fruity, somewhat spicey character imparted by the fermentation. 7.9% ABV.

We’re also pulling out some gems from the cellar! The below go on tap when we open at 11AM on July 3rd.
– The Bruery Bois 5th Anniversary Barrel Aged Old Ale (originally released in 2013)

Featured Arrivals

21st Amendment – Hop Crisis Imperial IPA

Hop Crisis. Crisis? What Crisis? A few years ago, when hop prices shot through the roof and the worldwide hop market went into a tailspin, at our pub in San Francisco we decided there was only one thing for us to do. We made the biggest, hoppiest IPA we could imagine and aged it on oak for good measure. This Imperial IPA breaks all the rules with more malt, more hops and more aroma. 9.7% ABV

Ecliptic – Aurora Crimson Saison
Aurora is named after the colorful cosmic rays seen in the northern sky. This Saison is brewed for summertime refreshment. A light malt flavor is accentuated by the spicy Belgian yeast flavors. Hopped to balance with Sterling hops. 5.0% ABV

Green Flash – Flanders Sour Red (Limit 1/person)
I had been working on a very specific barrel aged beer concept for a couple years when Green Flash found its new home on Mira Mesa Blvd and Flanders Drive and I thought to myself out loud, ”How fortuitous?”  The barrel aged beer that I had been researching and developing was Flanders-style Red Ale so I instantly thought to name this new beer after our new cross street, Flanders Drive (Sour Red Ale).  The making of the beer uses brewers yeast, brettanomyces and lactic acid producing bacteria (lactobacillus & pediococcus) adding tartness to the malty sweet base that includes Munich Malt and Special B for a good malt backbone.  We’ve been waiting for over a year for the beer to develop in oak barrels as the sourness increased and the wood added more depth and complexity.  The beer is brownish-red with off-white beer foam.  Aromas and flavors of sour cherries and dark fruit abound with subtle malt richness in the background for a full and rewarding sour ale.  This very limited, rare beer is an extra special treat from Green Flash to commemorate 10 years of innovative brewing in the San Diego community.  6.9% ABV

Hopworks – Totally Radler
Take five for this safety meeting. 70% organic HUB Lager and 30% fresh house-made lemonade quench your mid-ride thirst while carbs help beat the bonk. Makes a great snack! 3.5% ABV

Also new from Hopworks:
Hopworks Hard Apple Cider

Lagunitas – CitruSinens IPA
We’re hearing things like it tastes like an Orange Sucks or in the Chicago area it’s been called the sweet Malort of beer, Woah!? We’re not sure if any of the descriptions we’ve heard quite get to the complexishness of this latest offering in the OneHitter Series but we do know that for a brewhouse that has rules like “eat the fruit, smoke the herb, drink the beer, don’t mix” sometimes when you break rules the coolest things happen. It’s out now in very limited quantities and we hope you get to try our new Orangish Hoppy Pale(ish) beer. Cheers! 7.9% ABV

Pike – Locale Skagit Valley Alba
Just in time for summer, Pike Locale Skagit Valley Alba is light and citrusy with a clean, earthy and nutty malt finish. Subtly seasoned with Yakima Valley hops, Pike Locale Skagit Valley Alba pours a beautiful spun gold color with crisp, pale foam. 5.5% ABV

Small Town Brewery – Not Your Father’s Root Beer
Silky, smooth and satisfying finish is unmatched in flavor. It appeals to craft beer aficionados as well as those who don’t typically drink beer but crave something unique. Because of the overwhelming response to Not Your Father’s Root Beer, we have had thousands of requests from all over the country for this product in a package format. We’ve worked relentlessly with experts that make up over 80 years of brewing experience for almost two years to figure out how to increase production to meet demand while keeping the cost to consumers reasonable. At long last…it’s here. 5.9% ABV

Sonoma – Crowbar Habanero Lime Cider
Blend of bone dry organic hard cider with fresh organic lime juice and just-picked habanero peppers. Fresh bright pepper on the nose and hints of heat through the finish. Notes of coriander add complexity and depth throughout. 6.0% ABV

Southern Tier – Choklat Oranj
Choklat Oranj is the fifth beer currently in our highly regarded Blackwater series. Warlock, Crème Brûlée, Mokah and Choklat have RateBeer scores of 97, 98, 99 and 100, respectively. Choklat Oranj is a stout brewed with chocolate and orange peels, opaque black in color and a delicious dessert beer. Perfect alone, or enjoyed as a float. Scoop organic vanilla bean ice cream into a snifter or pint glass and top with Choklat Oranj. 10.0% ABV

Wingman – P-51 Coconut Porter
P-51 is a robust and clean-finishing porter. Rich malty flavors highlight hints of chocolate and coffee, but this version comes with a tropical twist on P-51 Porter. The same great P-51 taste with the added element of toasted coconut aroma and flavor. 8.0% ABV
