For Father’s Day this year, HP Canada contacted me about reviewing their HP Envy x2 Laptop/Tablet and HP 120 e-All-in-One Printer as well as giving away a Laptop, Printer, and Supplies to one lucky Daddy Blogger reader. How could I say “no” to such an incredible offer? We had lots of creative entries – I really appreciate all the time and effort people put in into entering the contest – it was really hard for us to pick just one winner.

Here are some of the links to the original giveaway, the contest entries, and the video of the winning entry:

So, it’s been close to a month of using both the Laptop and Printer and I wanted to review both of the products.

First was the very practical HP Envy x2 Laptop/Tablet – my favorite part of this gadget is the ability to convert from a laptop to a tablet and back again just with a small switch. For someone who likes to type on a traditional keyboard and blog a lot, having a traditional keyboard is my favorite feature and something that I find frustrating with just a tablet or smartphone touch keyboard. . However, sometimes, I am just watching movies on Netflix and don’t want a bulky keyboard to interfere with my viewing experience so I can just remove it in a flash. Another great feature is the ability for my wife to connect with her family back in the Philippines. Rianne’s grand-parents love watching her playing and interacting with the built-in webcam. The last feature I love about the HP Envy is that it is super lightweight. Since I move around from office to bedroom to living room and often take my laptop with me on the road, the small size and weight are a huge bonus for me.

As for the HP 120 e-All-in-One Printer, we have been experimenting with all the different features including printing, scanning, photocopying, and more. We especially like printing some of our digital pictures from our iPhone. It’s one thing to see a picture on a computer screen, it’s a whole another experience holding the same picture in your hand. Plus, the quality is really good – the pictures look vivid, sharp, and bright. The HP 120 has a great Wifi feature so you can print electronically from your smart phone or tablet without plugging in any wires. There are also some really cool Apps so you can birthday cards and various other greeting cards, business cards, brochures, and pamphlets using your own pictures and text. I’m sure Rianne will love making arts and crafts using this printer as she grows up. The printer is quite large so it takes a lot of room on our office desk so I suggest putting it under the table or having a separate area to put the printer in.

The winner of the contest, Zoe Dissell, also wrote a review – here’s some of Zoe’s thoughts:

Two weeks ago I entered a Father’s Day competition that Ricky from Daddy Blogger posted on Facebook. I never win anything but I had a good feeling about this one and I’m so glad I followed that feeling because a few days later he told me that I won! Of course Ricky didn’t just tell me in an email or phone call. He organized a Google live chat and then recorded my reaction as he told me the good news! I had won an HP Envy x2 laptop tablet, plus printer and supplies. WOW! Laptops are cool and tablets are cool – but the ability to have both in one package is awesome! You can work on it like a laptop and then when you want a tablet you just pop the screen off.

Our six year old daughter enjoys playing games and doing art work on it thanks to the easy touch screen. We’ll get her a mouse so she can start to practice using that too. There are lots of apps we can download for fun and educational games. We use it to Skype family overseas while we walk around the house and follow our crazy dog around. You can switch the camera from front to back like an iPhone so that’s a handy feature. At night we pop the screen off and watch movies in bed on the wide screen. The quality is great and I think this will be perfect for travelling because it’s nice and light and will have everything we could need.

The printer is ultra slick and reminds me of a futuristic hi-fi system. It’s easy to use and connects to your computer using wifi so it keeps your desk tidy. HP Canada sent paper, ink and photo paper for us to try out. I was worried when the first photo I printed didn’t look very good but then I realized I had put it in upside down! It looked way better the right way! Here’s a photo of Mila holding a printed photo of a rainbow that she painted using the laptop. We were impressed with the bright colours and quality and will definitely be printing more photos this way.

We want to say a huge thank you to Ricky from Daddy Blogger for having this competition and to HP Canada for supplying such a great prize. THANK YOU!!!!
