Some few days ago, a client of mine called me and said he was having problem redirecting his blogspot blog address to a registered custom domain. I directed him to this post how to add your registered custom domain on blogger settings but he told me he couldn’t do it. Google has totally changed their blogger CNAME setup settings for custom domains and requires a different configuration. Setting up a custom domain for blogger blogs now requires adding two CNAME records.
Although it is not that difficult to configure these settings if you have access to your registered domain DNS Management. But my client registered his domain at Syskay.com, a domain registrar that do not offer DNS Management to their customers. And that was difficult to setup but I was able to do it successfully. So here, I will show you how to setup your custom domain name registered with Syskay using Namecheap free DNS settings.
How to Configure your Custom Domain Name on Blogger:
If your domain name registrars gives you access to your DNS Management, all you have to do is grab your two unique CNAME records from your blogger and set it accordingly in your domains DNS settings just as you do in your web4africa DNS Management. This is how to get your CNAME records.
1. Add the registered custom domain to your blog as you normally do, or read this post how to add your custom domain on blogger. You will receive an error message like this;
"we are not able to resolve www.xxxx.com. It might take up to 24 hours for new domains to start working. Please try again latter..."
So right under the error message, you will see an instruction directing you to enter two CNAMEs provided. You can use this CNAME records and add it in the DNS management of your registered domain. Or click the "settings instructions" link and you will be directed to a page that provides your unique CNAME records. Copy the information, you will have to use them latter.
How to Create a free DNS (Domain Name System) for Domains registered with Syskay.com:
