A 10kg bottle of gas can go as cheaply as €8.49 in the Larnaca district but as high as €13.50 in the Limassol district, according to a survey released on Tuesday by the ministry of energy, tourism, industry and commerce.

The report lists the most expensive stores and petrol stations where consumers can buy the 10kg bottles in Cyprus. The cheapest islandwide is sold at the Super Discount Store on Leontiou Machaira Street in Larnaca. In general shops appear to be cheaper, with the exception of Limassol where a petrol station offered the best price in the district.

Larnaca had the lowest prices on average (€10.04 in shops, €11.23 in petrol stations) with the maximum price reaching €13.00. While the Super Discount Store in Larnaca offers the best price when it comes to shops, the EKO gas station in Kalo Chorio and on Eleftherias street in Aradippou offer the best price when it comes to petrol stations (€10.00).

In Famagusta district the gas bottle was cheaper on average in shops, with an average price of €10.64 and the cheapest one being sold at the Poplife Supermarket in Avgorou village.

But things were different when it came to petrol stations, with the average price at €11.39. The petrol station selling the cheapest gas bottle can be found in Avgorou village, the EKO gas station for €10.80. The highest price in the district was €13.00.

Nicosia comes in third, with the average price at stores being €10.84 (the cheapest store in Nicosia is Alfa Mega supermarket in Deftera village, priced at €9.90. Gas station prices average €11.33 with the cheapest one being sold at the AGIP gas station on Larnaca Avenue in Aglandjia for €10.30. Prices go up to €13.00 in other locations in the district.

Stores in Limassol district sell for an average of €11.00, with the cheapest being at Alfa Mega-E&S Kapsalos on Ayias Filaxeos avenue. Limassol is the district with the highest average price at petrol stations at €11.98, although the cheapest gas station (PETROLINA in Ayias Filaxeos avenue) is the third cheapest on the island (€10.34). Limassol district has the highest prices on the island when it comes to petrol stations, with the highest reaching €13.50.

Paphos has the highest prices at shops, averaging €11.51, although the cheapest store, Papantoniou supermarket in Ellados avenue, sells for as low as €10.34. The average price at petrol stations is €11.35 with the cheapest being sold at the EKO gas station on Michalaki Kiprianou avenue 121, in Peyia for €10.90.

The ministry urges the public to keep the prices into consideration and make the best possible choice based on the information given.
