Fox Business Network will host the sixth Republican presidential candidate debate, on Thursday, January 14 in North Charleston, SC. FBN drew its biggest ratings ever with its first GOP debate back in November.

Walt Disney Co. upped its ownership of Vice Media to about 10 percent, in a deal that values the company at (gulp) $4 billion, according to the Financial Times. Vice is prepping a cable net under the umbrella of Disney co-owned A+E Networks, as well as a newscast for HBO.

AT&T is grabbing content rights for mobile entertainment services following its DirectTV acquisition, with plans to offer both big and skinny bundle packages, said CEO Randall Stephenson at a UBS media gathering this week. “You go down the premium content channels, we got the stacking rights and mobile rights,” said Stephenson, pointing to Showtime, Starz, Viacom and A&E. AT&T would deliver content via its wireless network. More to come in January….

Viewers will soon be able to get a double dose of Bloomberg Media’s With All Due Respect. Starting in January, the daily political show will air on MSNBC at 6p, one hour after its Bloomberg Television telecast. ABC Studios inked a three-year overall television deal with Pete Nowalk. Under the agreement, ABC Studios will have exclusive rights to produce and distribute programming developed by the How to Get Away With Murder showrunner for broadcast, cable and online audiences.

COMING UP

MSG Network will telecast The Main Event: A Century of Sinatra on Saturday, December 12 at 9p. FremantleMedia North America’s digital multicast network, BUZZR, will count down the 12 days leading to Christmas with holiday programming featuring game show regular Betty White. Starting Monday, December 14, BUZZR will air game show episodes featuring the beloved Golden Girl at 8p, ending with 24-hour marathon “A Betty White Christmas” on Friday, December 25.

OWN’s Tyler Perry series The Haves and the Have Nots and Love Thy Neighbor return Tuesday, January 5 at 9p and Friday, January 8 at 9p. TLC two-hour special Bible Bowl returns Monday, December 28 at 8p with biblical enthusiasts competing for millions of dollars in scholarships.

ADVERTISING AND BRANDS

Two years after combining its linear and digital sales divisions, Turner announced a redesigned, simplified “client first” ad sales unit. Client Strategy & Ad Innovation will be made up of two teams: Ad Innovation and Programmatic Solutions will be charged with developing next generation capabilities, while Client Strategy & Development centers on individual clients and overall category strategy. “Turner has led with ad innovation, branded content and platform-agnostic sales for some time, so this is the next pivotal step in that evolution,” said Donna Speciale, president of Turner Ad Sales. “We want to re-imagine advertising across all screens and formats to better the experience for consumers and deliver stronger results for brands.”

Based on a robust scatter market, CBS CEO Les Moonves anticipates an “extraordinarily strong” upfront in 2016. At the UBS media conference this week, Moonves said that while CBS sold 4-5% less inventory than it wanted to at the 2015 upfront, “Because the scatter market in the third and fourth quarter is so good, advertisers have got to say to themselves, ‘Had I bought this spot in July rather than September, I would have paid 20% less for it’.”

Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes, also speaking at the UBS conference, was similarly bullish about the upfront season. Pointing to scatter market prices up by double digits, Bewkes said the trend “bodes well” for Turner nets next year.

AWARDS CENTRAL

Nominees for the 47th Annual NAACP Image Awards were announced Tuesday. Comedy series nods went to black-ish, House of Lies, Key & Peele, Orange Is the New Black and Survivor’s Remorse. (Modern Family is the only broadcast show to make the cut in the categories.) Ceremony takes place January 24.

NEW SERIES

Multi-generational comedy Here We Go Again debuts on TV One Tuesday, December 15 at 9:30p. LeToya Luckett (Single Ladies), Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Game) and Kyndall Ferguson star.

Abigail Breslin (Scream Queens) has been cast as Baby in ABC event Dirty Dancing, produced by Lionsgate TV.

DIGITAL DOINGS

Amazon’s new Streaming Partners Program offers Prime member a simple way to sign up for premium services like Showtime and Starz. Amazon handles subscriber acquisition, customer service, billing and streaming; customers get free trials, special pricing and the ability to watch episodes simultaneous with broadcast. It’s a “terrific product for customers to conveniently navigate their entertainment options quickly, easily and anywhere,” said Starz CEO Chris Albrecht. Among other offerings are Lifetime Movie Club, Urban Movie Channel and Ring TV Boxing.

Discovery Communications’ Eurosport gives viewers a taste of what it’s like to zip down the famed “Birds of Prey” ski slope in Colorado via a virtual reality experience with Olympic gold medal skier Bode Miller. Who else is along for the ride? Along with Eurosport and Discovery, the United States Ski and Snowboarding Association, the International Ski Federation and the Vail Valley Foundation also teamed up for the project. In its first 48 hours, the 360° video hosted on Facebook recorded more than 350,000 views and was shared over 7,000 times.

Oznoz launched its Amazon Fire TV app this week. A library of cartoons and kids’ shows, including Sesame Street and Barney, will be available in over ten languages.
