How to Use Podcasting to Amplify Your Brand

Are you making the most of your podcasting potential? Whether it’s selling a product, amplifying excitement about a TV show or creating brand integrations that accomplish both goals, podcasting can be a powerful tool.

With over 20 percent of Americans, or 57 million, listening to a podcast monthly, (up 17 percent from last year), those numbers add up! Find out how to leverage this market by joining Cynopsis, Edison Research, Mack Weldon and Midroll Media on November 29, from 1:30 – 3:30 PM (EST).

Sign up today.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

NBC gave a script commitment with penalty to a series based on the 2012 surf movie Blue Crush. Lizzy Weiss, who co-wrote the movie with John Stockwell, will pen the series adaptation and executive produce. The movie’s producer, Imagine’s Brian Grazer, also will executive produce with the company’s Francie Calfo. Universal TV is the studio, co-producing with Imagine Television.

USA Network is jumping on the true crime drama bandwagon with the serial Unsolved. The network gave a pilot order to the scripted series that chronicles the police investigations into the murders of music artists Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. The pilot is directed and exec-produced by Anthony Hemingway, Emmy winner for his directing work on FX’s The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

With the explosion of mobile, podcasting has become the hot new way to reach consumers with ads that aren’t easily skipped and feel authentic to listeners. Are you using this remarkably effective new tool to connect your TV shows and brands with an audience Nielsen Scarborough reports as 70 percent between the ages of 18-44, with a household income $12,000 above the national average? Learn more in the November 29 Cynopsis webinar, How to Use Podcasting to Amplify Your Brand. Register here.

Zero Gravity Management optioned A’Lelia Bundles’ bestselling biography On Her Own Ground, the story of African-American entrepreneur and philanthropist Madam C.J. Walker. Oscar winner Octavia Spencer will star as Walker and also produce the project, written by Nicole Asher (Coco) and directed by Kasi Lemmons (Shots Fired). The company will develop the story as a limited series and shop it to networks.

It Was Him, a six-part documentary series from Objective Media Group, got an order from Spike TV.  The series examines convicted killer Ed Edwards and will be part of the new Spike Serialized franchise, for limited-run non-scripted series

Entertainment One is partnering with Stolen Sky Productions and LBI Entertainment to co-develop and co-produce a travel series with musician Dave Matthews. An international cultural exploration show through music, the series builds on Matthews’ knowledge for the subject matter following his involvement in a US government cultural mission to Cuba that included the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities and the National Endowment of the Arts. In each hour-long ep, Matthews will land in a new location and embark on his own mission to explore areas of the world where are there are large cultural divides and misconceptions.

NBC is no longer moving ahead with Endemol Shine Studio project Patient Zero. From The Imitation Game writer Graham Moore and World War Z director Marc Forster and co-developed by Sky, the drama received a 10-ep, straight-to-series order in May 2015. Sky, which was to serve as the series’ UK network, has also dropped it.
