GE is rolling out its second podcast series next week, reports AdWeek, after last year’s “The Message” had 4.4 million downloads and averaged 450,000 per episode. Brand messaging within the story, about a widower trying to reconnect with his wife that references a piece of GE software called “digital twin,” will be subtle. “We never did a hard sell on a product or a service within it – it’s woven into the story naturally where the idea of the digital twin comes to life in the story,” Andy Goldberg, GE’s global chief creative officer, told AdWeek.
That’s the beauty of podcasting – listeners’ connection with the story extends to the brand, whether it’s tequila or a TV show. During the aforementioned earnings call, Scripps Networks Interactive said it won’t be renewing its Netflix distribution deal when it expires at year’s end.
