SAG-AFTRA said it is entering into arbitration on behalf of the Being Mary Jane cast. “BET and Breakdown Productions continue to abuse the option pickup process and mask which season they are shooting in order to avoid paying contractually agreed upon raises,” said the union. Series star Gabrielle Union filed a suit against BET last month claiming the network was combining seasons 4 and 5 into a 20-episode season, despite an agreement that seasons wouldn’t exceed 13 episodes. Responded BET to the SAG-AFTRA move, “The clear contract language and the bargaining history do not support SAG-AFTRA’s theory. We believe SAG-AFTRA and Ms. Union are playing this out in the media as they will not be able to prove in arbitration or court of law.”

ABC News took swift action after CNN reported that a yellow crime scene tape seen in a Good Morning America story “was placed there by ABC News for the purpose of its inclusion in the shot.” The apparent staging of the shot “is completely unacceptable and fails to meet the standards of ABC News,” said the division’s VP of communications, Julie Townsend. “As soon as it was brought to our attention, we decided to take the producer out of the field, and we’re investigating further.”

Netflix, which made its Television Critics Association event debut in 2013, is skipping the winter press tour, the TCA announced on Friday. Fox News anchor Bret Baier apologized on air Friday for inaccurate reporting earlier in the week, when he said that sources “with intimate knowledge of the FBI investigation” of the Clinton Foundation indicated an indictment was likely.
