Good morning. It’s Thursday November 3, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

With last night’s Game 7 set to raise the bar even more, World Series Game 6 on FOX notched a 13.3/23 household rating/share with 23.4 million viewers for the network to rank as the most-watched World Series Game 6 since 1997’s 23.7 million, according to Nielsen fast nationals. Combined with FOX Deportes (425,000 total viewers) and FOX Sports GO (150,852 average minute audience), World Series Game 6 registered 24 million total viewers. The game ranks as FOX’s highest-rated primetime telecast of the broadcast season (at least until last night) and projects to be the channel’s best Tuesday night in over six years. Through six games, the 2016 World Series is averaging an 11.3/20 household rating/share with 20 million viewers to rank as the most-watched World Series since 2004.

ON THE AIR

Some new sports-themed shows are about to hit the networks. NBC Sports Group announced the debut of Shotgun, a quiz show from the creators of The Amazing Race that tests contestants’ skills at answering questions while riding in the passenger seat of a professional race car. The series is hosted by Rutledge Wood, and will see six contestants ride “shotgun” as professional drivers put the pedal to the medal around four different courses at Irwindale Speedway. Contestants who answer the most questions correctly in each round will move on to the next race course, with the last contestant standing earning $25,000. In addition, the eight-episode series will debut digitally  on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app  before its television premiere on NBCSN with ep 1 running on TV on Nov. 19 at 7p.

Meanwhile, NFL Network is adding Tackle My Ride to its primetime lineup. The new unscripted reality series bows on Nov. 15 at 8p and will see cohosts LaMarr Woodley and James Torrez surprise “deserving football fans with ultimate fan car makeovers by their NFL hometown heroes.” The project comes from executive producer, Michael Strahan, and Leftfield Pictures.

Speaking of NFL Network, multiple reports state that the channel suspended analyst Brian Baldinger for six months without pay over radio comments he made suggesting that the Eagles should intentionally hurt Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott through a bounty.

Elsewhere in the NFL world, NBC wrapped up its new Thursday Night Football theme music, which will be used throughout its TNF game telecasts starting today with the Falcons/Bucs on NFL Network. The music was composed and produced by Jimmy Greco and entitled “Can’t Hold Us Down” with a performance by the string section from the orchestra of Broadway’s Hamilton.

NBA TV saw its Fan Night telecast on Tuesday (pitting the Warriors/Trail Blazers) average 692,000 total viewers for a rise of 72% when over to the same corresponding coverage in 2015.

The 2016 TCS New York City Marathon hits audiences on Nov. 6, with carriage on ABC7 and ESPN2 in the US, as well as globally in 175 countries and territories, according to the New York Road Runners. The race begins at 9a with coverage featuring 33 cameras spanning the 26.2 mile course, including a camera attached to the chair of professional wheelchair athlete and U.S. Paralympian Josh George. Sage Steele serves as host, joining 16 commentators, reporters, and analysts for the production with John Anderson calling play-by-play.

Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany confirmed to the Chicago Tribune that the league will debut a slate of six primetime Friday games beginning in 2017. Delany said there will be three conference games and three non-league games in September and October with no team playing more than twice.

The Department of Justice filed an antitrust lawsuit on Wednesday against AT&T, claiming the DirecTV engaged in unlawful information-sharing with other pay TV operators and colluded in order to prevent Time Warner Cable from launching a LA-area sports network carrying Dodgers baseball games.

For the first time in sport’s history, the NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee will unveil their in-season top 10 team rankings ahead of the FCS playoffs with ESPNU serving as the exclusive home of the release. The rankings will be unveiled starting today on CFB: Daily and over the course of the next three weeks leading into week 10, week 11, and week 12 of the regular season. The process will culminate with the NCAA FCS Football Championship Selection Special at 11a on Nov. 20.

The ATP linked up with Nature Valley for a new sponsorship that makes the snack bar brand a sponsor of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. The deal makes Nature Valley a gold partner of the event, where they will receive on-court branding, a hospitality zone, and distribution rights around the O2 Arena in London. “Following the successful debut of our British tennis partnership this year, we are excited to build upon this sporting collaboration to now become the official snack bar of the ATP World Tour Finals,” said Arjoon Bose, marketing lead for the brand at General Mills.

Roush Fenway Racing locked in primary sponsor AdvoCare for an additional three more years for driver Trevor Bayne. The brand will remain as his sponsor for the bulk of his races through 2019.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is partnering with Centene Corporation and its subsidiary Envolve for a three-year partnership that makes it the “The Official Youth Wellness Partner of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.” Key components of the Hall of Fame/Centene partnership include a multimedia campaigns to heighten awareness of solutions for significant issues such as bullying, mental health, nutrition and exercise and expansion of the existing Hall of Fame school-based youth & education curriculum to encompass behavioral health and wellness.

DIGITAL & STREAMING

WWE debuts a new one-hour, in-ring program called 205 Live and showcasing WWE’s new Cruiserweight Division. The series debuts on Nov. 29 at 10p on WWE Network and be called by Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves. 205 Live will feature Superstars that are 205 lbs. and under.

Omnigon formally launched PollPro, a polling product that allows users to vote once on up to 20 pieces of content, with the ATP World Tour on board, launching its first PollPro campaign. The PGA TOUR is also running a PollPro campaign encouraging fans to vote on the 2016 Web.com Tour Player of the Year. “Several of our long standing clients, all of whom are involved in big sporting and entertainment events, asked if we could develop custom products that can be monetized, drive fan engagement across social media platforms and be sold as an offering to sponsors and advertisers,” said Nick Arcuri, VP, Products at Omnigon.

The UFC named Lenee Breckenridge as Vice President of Communications. Breckenridge will be responsible for leading communications efforts for UFC’s 40+ annual events, and serving as the global brand’s spokesperson, while continuing her work with the organization’s athletes.

After announcing the launch of a regional MMA promotion in Southern California, Alliance MMA named Eric Del Fierro as General Manager, Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC)  West. Alliance MMA previously announced that it intends to acquire regional promotions around the country and serve as a feeder organization for other promotions.
