Good morning. It’s Tuesday November 3, 2015, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

The Royals victory in the 2015 World Series once again handed FOX with a winner, as Game 5 drew a 10.0/17 household rating/share with 17.2 million viewers to rank as the most-watched Game 5 since 2003. The final contest was up 37% in rating and average audience over 2014 Royals-Giants Game 5 a year ago. Kansas City posted a 60.0/80, the highest rated single market for a World Series Game since Phoenix posted a 62.3/80 for Yankees-Diamondbacks 2001 Game 7, while New York followed with a 25.5/40 for the contest. FOX Deportes’ own Spanish-language telecast of Game 5 averaged 296,000 total viewers, the most for a World Series Game 5 telecast in the channel’s history and up 41% for total viewers vs. last year’s Game 5.

Overall, the 2015 Fall Classic averaged an 8.7/16 household rating/share for FOX, with 14.7 million viewers, up 6% over last year’s full seven-game performance, while viewership of the 2015 World Series on FOX Sports GO was up 136% year-over-year.

ON THE AIR

Meanwhile, the battle of the undefeated teams on NBC’s SNF averaged 23.0 million viewers, according to Nielsen Fast National data. The marks the most-watched and highest-rated of six NBC SNF games played on the same night as the World Series, and serves as the fifth time in six matchups that the franchise has topped the viewership and household rating of the World Series.Viewership and household rating were up 22% and 19%, respectively, over last year’s Week 8 matchup (18.8 million viewers, 10.9/17 rating for Packers-Saints). Through eight weeks of the NFL season and nine telecasts, SNF is averaging 23.6 million viewers  the best viewership for the NFL’s broadcast primetime package at this point in the season in 19 years (23.9 million in 1996).

In addition, the NFL announced that the Week 11 Bengals/Cardinals game on Nov. 22 will now be played on SNF on NBC at 8:30p as part of its flex scheduling option. That means that the Chiefs/Chargers matchup will shift to CBS at 4p, while the Packers/Vikings matchup hits FOX at 4:25p.
