Nielsen released its first-ever blot post on Monday, featuring data and insights from Twitter and Facebook platforms, following news earlier this year about including Facebook data. Key posts noted that:
·

During premiere week (September 19 to 25, 2016), Nielsen measured 83.2 million total social TV interactions (Facebook and Twitter) across sports, series and specials. That equates to an average of 11.9 million interactions coming from 6.1 million people each day.
·

During the first week of the TV season, Nielsen found that “authors,” or those posting original content on Facebook, were nearly even at 46 percent male and 54 percent female. Females engaged with that content at a higher rate however, making up nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of engagers each day on average.
·

Regarding the most social new series debuts, the study found that NBC‘s This Is Us took home the top spot in terms of total interactions. However, on Twitter, E!‘s Rob & Chyna (170,000) and FX‘s Atlanta (166,700) — saw the most interactions.
