RATINGS

Andy Samburg may have scored with his opening musical number pegging him as the ultimate binge viewer, but Sunday’s telecast of the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards drew the show’s smallest audience on record -11.9 million viewers -according to preliminary data from Nielsen. The awards show, which aired 8-11p on Fox, was down almost 4 million viewers from last year’s event on NBC (15.6 million), which aired on a Monday in late August. The previous recorded viewer low was 12.3 million in both 1990 (Fox) and 2008 on ABC.

Despite a downswing for the main event, E!‘s Live From the Red Carpet preshow coverage delivered 1.1 million total viewers, including 546,000 in the 18-49 demographic, up 7 percent and 24 percent, respectively, vs. the 2014 Emmys preshow.

BBC America’s Doctor Who rang in season 9 on Saturday by delivering double-digit growth to 2 million total viewers over the previous season across all key demos in Nielsen Live+SD ratings. The premiere episode ranks as Doctor Who’s biggest season premiere ever in the A18-49 demo (1.1 million), which nearly doubled the season 8 average.

TV One has ranked as a top three ad-supported cable network among Black 25-54 for the past 11 consecutive Wednesday night primetime slots. The network’s Wednesday, September 16, lineup of finales – Unsung, Hollywood Divas and Born Again Virgin – also reached 1.6 million unique Black viewers 2+.

During the week of September 14, nationally syndicated talk show FABLife finished its debut week as the No. 1 syndicated freshman show, beating Crime Watch Daily by 25 percent, Hollywood Today Live by 150 and Crazy Talk by 233 percent, according to live plus same day metered market ratings.
