Good morning. It’s Friday July 31, 2015, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

CBS Sports is adding a home for the Missouri Valley Conference, announcing a sublicense agreement with ESPN to showcase the conference’s college basketball games on the CBS Television Network and CBS Sports Network. CBS Sports will continue to offer the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Championship game, which it has carried for ten consecutive years while CBS Sports Network will, for the first time, deliver the tournament semi-finals, as well as eight regular-season games per year.

ON THE AIR

The PGA TOUR is lining up the sport’s return to the Olympics with 47 FedExCup tournaments during the 2015-16 season, announcing a lineup of events yesterday that includes two new title sponsors as well as several date and golf course changes. New sponsors for the new season will include Dell as the new title sponsor of the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play and CareerBuilder as the title sponsor of the CareerBuilder Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation. Changes due to golf’s return to the 2016 Olympic Games include The PGA Championship (July 25-31), Travelers Championship (August 1-7) and John Deere Classic (August 8-14), are making a one-time shift before returning to their traditional dates for the 2016-17 season. In addition, the Quicken Loans National (June 20-26), World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and Barracuda Championship (both June 27-July 3) are moving earlier on the schedule. Speaking of golf, Golf Channel is reporting its most-watched July in network history, bolstered by its most-viewed Open Championship Week ever. The month saw 14.1 million unique viewers over all (for a 7% uptick YOY), along with a record 112,000 viewers per minute tuning in. That represents a 20% spike of July 2014 numbers, according to Nielsen.

FOX Sports announced programming details for its inaugural season of the Bundesliga, Germany’s top professional soccer league. The action kicks off on Friday, Aug. 14, with over 300 regular-season matches set to run via live television or streaming in the U.S. for the first time ever, including 58 slated for FOX Sports 1, 60 for FOX Sports 2, and the remainder on FOX Soccer Plus. Meanwhile, FOX Deportes is set to televise 105 matches. Ian Joy joins FOX Sports as its lead Bundesliga studio host, where he will join Eric Wynalda.

ESPN and ESPN Deportes announced that its platforms reached 32.9 million viewers during the 17 days of coverage of the Pan Am Games from July 10-26. That marks a 41% rise over the 2011 Games. Across those networks, the Pan Am Games reached 8.6 million Hispanics viewers. The 2019 Pan Am Games will be held in Lima, Peru; with ESPN and ESPN Deportes again serving as the exclusive U.S. home for the event.

Meanwhile, ABC saw its coverage of the WNBA All-Star Game notch double-digit viewership increases over last year’s telecast, with a 23% rise over 2014, when it aired on ESPN. The contest averaged 583,000 viewers. Top five markets: Louisville (2.1), Hartford-New Haven (1.9), Kansas City (1.7), Richmond (1.4) and Raleigh-Durham (1.3.).

The St. Louis Cardinals locked in a big deal with FOX Sports Midwest, inking a new long-term television rights agreement that begins in 2018 and runs 15 seasons through the 2032 season. In addition, FOX Sports Midwest announced an extension of its partnership with Ballpark Village, which includes a 2nd floor studio facing Busch Stadium and a naming rights sponsorship of FOX Sports Midwest Live. “We are pleased to have reached a new long-term agreement with our partners at FOX” said Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt, Jr. “They have done an excellent job with our telecasts, and this agreement will help us remain competitive in all areas of talent acquisition, from the amateur draft and international market to the Major League payroll. It also enables continued investment by the Cardinals in Busch Stadium, Ballpark Village, and other strategic initiatives.”

YES Network had a good night on Wednesday as the Yankees/Rangers battle scored as the most-watched and the highest-rated Yankees telecast on the channel this season/ The game averaged 302,000 TV Households  and a 4.06 average TV HH rating in the market.

Marriott is the first company to partner with the NBA across international games on five different continents. The agreement launches in Johannesburg during NBA Africa Game 2015. Edelman and its global sports & entertainment agency United Entertainment Group are expanded their Olympic marketing and communications offering ahead of the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Led by UEG, along with Edelman Significa in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, the endeavor includes “full-service strategic communications planning and execution, sponsorship and experiential activation, athlete acquisition and management, digital and social media engagement, as well as new dedicated team members in the areas of global issues management and preparedness, employee engagement, social purpose strategy, and research and analytics.” In preparation for the 2016 Games, Natalia Martinez serves as head of Strategic Programs in Brazil, currently with a focus in developing Olympic business.

DIGITAL & TECHNOLOGY

Ahead of the 2015-16 Premier League season, NBC Sports Group announced digital plans to cover the action, which kicks off Aug. 8. Coverage includes Pro Soccer Talk on NBCSports.com serving up season previews for each club, analysis of the top players at each position, and a map of the clubs.

Campus Insiders unveiled its broadcast slate of eight football games in 2015 for the Patriot League Network. The platform will bring its production and broadcast crew to showcase: Villanova at Fordham (Sept. 12); Dartmouth at Georgetown (Sept. 19); Albany at Holy Cross (Oct. 3); Harvard at Lafayette (Oct. 17); Fordham at Colgate (Oct. 31); Holy Cross at Lehigh (Nov. 7); Holy Cross at Bucknell (Nov. 14) and Bucknell at Colgate (Nov. 21).

FANTASY/GAMING/ESPORTS

SiriusXM and FanDuel are teaming up to offer listeners a new show dedicated to daily fantasy sports. FanDuel Daily debuts on Monday, August 3, and airs every weekday from 5-6p on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio. The series will see Jeff Mans and Joe Pisapia host the show, which will feature contributions from a cast of FanDuel analysts. “SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio has established itself as the leading broadcaster for fantasy sports insight and advice and we will continue to be the premier on-air destination for the millions of fans now drawn to daily fantasy games,” said Steve Cohen, SiriusXM’s SVP of Sports Programming.”
