The Walking Dead steps back into the AMC lineup for a two-part season five on Sunday, October 12 at 9p. The season premieres of Talking Dead and Comic Book Men follow the zombie drama at 10p and midnight. "Season five is without question the most ambitious and satisfying season this amazing team has ever crafted," said Charlie Collier, AMC president. International premieres air within 24 hours of the U.S. broadcast across Fox International Channels markets.

IN THE NEWS

CBS News and The New York Times are collaborating on "Battleground Tracker," data analyzing public opinion during the midterm elections based on a panel of more than 100,000 people nationwide. "We aim to take this unprecedented amount of original data, and then track… what would happen in every race of the election were today," said CBS News Director of Elections Anthony Salvanto. Findings will appear on NYTimes.com/Upshot andCBSNews.com, with new results being unveiled monthly through November. Tracker made its debut Sunday on Face the Nation.

No bingeing: Community fans will fed a slow and steady diet of the revived sitcom on Yahoo. It was announced at Comic-Con that the show’s 13 season six eps will roll out weekly on the site, sometime after Christmas 2014.

Aereo-like streamer of broadcast signals FilmOn was found in contempt of court on Thursday. The company’s interpretation of the June 25 Supreme Court ruling against Aereo, likening it to a cable company, cost it a $90,000 sanction. SCOTUS’s finding that Aereo is similar to a cable system is "not the same as a judicial finding that Aereo and its technological peers are, in fact, cable companies entitled to retransmission rights," said the judge.

Don’t hold your breath for a Family Guy movie – the project is on hold while creator Seth MacFarlane works on Ted 2. The animated comedy’s director and producer, Peter Shin, said at Comic-Con that a movie with Stewie, Brian and co. "might move forward in the future."

What is coming soon is the Simpsons/Family Guy crossover ep, set for Family Guy’s one-hour season 13 premiere on Sunday, September 28. A 5-minute trailer was screened at Comic-con that included prank phone calls, aliens and Homer and Peter in an epic battle over beer.

The Doctor Who series 8 premiere will launch on the big screen as well as TV on Saturday, August 23. The BBC announced Friday that select theaters worldwide will debut the first episode with content that won’t appear in the TV version. The series’ 50th anniversary special got the theater treatment, too, grossing over $10 million for a three-day engagement in November.

TLC just launched a Sunday Brunch programming block, with the net’s Erika Vetrini hosting wraps and interstitials that include recipes, how-to tips and interviews with talent. Viewers can connect to TLC’s social media platforms to win branded prize packages using #TLCSundayBrunch.

NBC‘s low-rated Crossbones will shift from Friday to Saturday for its last two episodes. The pirate drama starring James Malkovich will be replaced on Fridays at 10p with an NBC News special and Dateline.

Winners of Fox‘s Gotham promotional poster and trailer contest get a trip to NYC to attend the upcoming drama’s premiere party. Deadline is August 20; details here. Batman prequel debuts Monday, September 22 at 8p.

In honor of the late James Garner, who died July 19 at age 86, the SAG Foundation has made available an excerpt from its two-hour interview with the actor. Included: "I wouldn’t change one thing in my life." Clip can be viewed here.
