NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS

Hearst unveiled new fitness and lifestyle channel CosmoBody for mobile and online platforms yesterday, at a price point of $9.95 per month. The Cosmo edit staff curates content for the channel, with programs like Get in the Mood with Yoga and videos offering dating, food and fashion tips. The Video Ink reports Hearst is planning to release more channels from the publisher’s network and outside sources. Hearst also manages the Seventeen brand channel with AwesomenessTV, which launched in February.

Former Fortune 100 Chief Marketing Officer and host of Bloomberg TV’s The C-Suite with Jeffrey Hayzlett has a new TV network, C-Suite TV, with online video company Piksel. The network went live yesterday, with the premiere of MYOB: Mind Your Own Business, a show that goes inside companies to discover the secrets to their success. “C-Suite TV is one model for how anyone creating fascinating content can become online broadcasters,” Piskel’s CCO Kevin Joyce said. The platform is available at csuitetv.com.

International TV streaming service DramaFever sealed a deal with film distributor Well Go USA Entertainment, bringing the movies A Better Tomorrow, Kung Fu Dunk and others to the site’s users. Premiering on DramaFever later this year: Tripe Tap (Aug. 6), 1911 (Sept. 10), Yakuza Weapon (Oct. 10), Ocean Heaven (Oct. 14), War of the Arrows (Oct. 21) and Blade of Kings (Dec. 11).

Video discovery service Waywire rolled out 85 video channels for content brands yesterday. Users can follow channels and create a personalized programming guide from brands like Al Jazeera, DanceOn, Maker Camp. Waywire is available online and on mobile devices.

CONTENT MEDIA

CBS is “willing to talk” to Aereo about doing a paid content deal, said net CEO Les Moonves at Fortune’s annual technology conference Tuesday. Now that the Supreme Court has agreed with broadcasters, ruling that the antenna-based subscription service was violating their copyrights, Moonves said, “The door is still open” to making a deal, but added, “I don’t think their business model made sense unless they were getting content illegally and for free.”

Hulu’s original parody series The Hotwives of Orlando debuted on the service yesterday. The series mocks Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise, and features TV female vets like Casey Wilson (Happy Endings), Angela Kinsey (The Office), Kristen Schall (Bob’s Burgers), Tymberlee Hill (Grey’s Anatomy), Donna Andrea Savage (Funny or Die Presents…) and Danielle Schneider (Players) Hulu also released the second season of original East Los High last week.

Investigation Discovery and Discovery Consumer Products launched the Shop ID Store featuring branded merchandise from the channel’s series like Wives With Knives or Homicide Hunter at ShopIDStore.com.

That just might be Andie MacDowell, in character as Olivia from Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove, you see biking around Manhattan tomorrow – or it might not. Nielsen expanded its Nielsen Online Campaign Ratings measurement platform for in-app and browser ads on mobile devices. Adap.tv, BrightRoll, Collective, Defy Media and more have adopted the measurement tool, which counts how many consumers see an ad via desktop, mobile or both for total and device reach (age, gender and DMA). “We understand the challenges that the advertising industry faces as consumers and content become more platform-agnostic,” Nielsen’s Global Head of Advertiser Solutions Randall Beard told Cynopsis. “Advertisers will have a full view of their digital audience for the first time, which is a big deal for the smallest screen.”

AD PLATFORMS

On the heels of the MRC’s new viewability metric standard for online video, Evolve Media has introduced a native video solution called INgage that reveals video only when a consumer is in view. “Most video ads run in traditional display ad spots, on auto-play in the right rail of a content page which users don’t often see, but for which advertisers always pay,” Evolve’s Co-Founder and President Brian Fitzgerald told Cynopsis. “Also, most video ads that appear in the content are set to auto-play at the top of an article page, where you get the highest percentage of traffic in and then bounce out. INgage, however, is sold on a viewability metric and only serves to the page when in-view, which happens down the page, within content and to users who are actually reading the article. That way, you get access to the most engaged users, something all advertisers want, but seldom get.”

Tremor Video formed a partnership with fraud detection company DoubleVerify yesterday. “Advertising fraud and digital security are a serious concern for our advertising and agency partners, and we want to be sure their brands are viewed in the best light possible,” Tremor CEO Bill Day said.

RESEARCH

Good news, marketers: a new study from Omnicom Media Group’s Annalect found that a third of binge TV viewers (defined as watching at least three shows in a session) don’t mind seeing ads if it lowers their subscription rate and that the ads actually provided a nice break during their session. In addition, bingers are 20 percent more receptive to ads than non-bingers and 15 percent share ads through social media.
