Good morning. It’s Wednesday July 13, 2016, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

NBC Olympics will serve up a slate of firsts for the Summer Games, including a record 4,500 streaming hours that includes live streaming of all competition; TV simul-stream coverage of nine television networks for the first time; as well as first-time streaming to connected TVs. Many of the feeds will include both English- and Spanish-language commentary. Features are set to include a video-on-demand coverage, including athlete profiles and features, full-event replays and short-form highlights; video overlays; and closed captioning for the first time. Meanwhile, the NBC Olympics: Rio News & Results app will offer the latest Olympic news and results, extensive video highlights, TV listings, medal standings, dedicated sections for all 34 sports on the Rio program, Team USA and international athlete bios, and serve as the primary second-screen tool for NBC’s nightly primetime coverage.

MMA promotions continue to draw heavyweight investment. The largest sports media property in Asia  ONE Championship  has now locked in definitive agreements with a consortium-led by Heliconia Capital Management for an investment into the company. The deal will help the promotion continue to expand and break new ground, as well as beef up the number of live MMA events across Asia, especially in China. “In less than five years, ONE Championship has grown into a global brand with a broadcast reach to over 1 billion homes across 118 countries around the world,” said Chatri Sityodtong, Founder and Chairman of ONE Championship. “We have consistently broken attendance records at many of the largest stadiums across Asia. I expect to see an acceleration in business fundamentals across the board for ONE Championship.”

Sunday’s coverage of the UEFA EURO 2016 Final on ESPN and ESPN Deportes scored as the most-watched UEFA European Football Championship match on its networks, according to Nielsen. The 2.5-hour telecast averaged 5,899,000 viewers combined for the game window across the two channels for a 2% markup over the UEFA EURO 2012 Final. ESPN Deportes nabbed an average audience of 1,361,000 viewers  with 4.9 Hispanic rating to become the most-watched program ever on the channel. Top markets for ESPN: New York (5.9), Providence (5.8), Miami-Ft. Lauderdale (4.8), San Diego (4.6), San Francisco (4.6).

UFC programming helped drive FOX Sports to viewership spikes as Saturday’s MLB overrun pushed the first 32 minutes of the UFC 200 Prelims to FS2, snaring 582,000 viewers and 379,000 in the Adults 18-49 demo and making it the most-watched telecast in FS2 history in both metrics. The final 89 minutes of the event on FS1 earned 1,786,000 viewers, making it the third-most watched UFC PPV Prelims telecast in FS1 history. Friday’s finale of The Ultimate Fighter averaged 1,086,000 viewers, making it the most-watched finale edition on FS1 since the first fall 2013 season.

Ahead of the Olympics, NBA TV carries nine men’s and women’s USA Basketball exhibition games presented by Nike starting July 22, at 9p with the USA Men’s National Team/Argentina. The slate includes five USA Men’s National Team games and four USA Women’s National Team games. Game talent will include Marv Albert and Matt Winer (play-by-play), Grant Hill, Reggie Miller and Steve Smith (analysts) and reporter Jared Greenberg for the men’s games.  Vince Cellini (play-by-play) will be joined by Lisa Leslie (analyst) and reporter Kristen Ledlow for the women’s games. Additionally, NBA Real Training Camp: USA Basketball Presented by Jeep runs on July 19 at 3p, offering a live behind-the-scenes look at a USA Basketball Men’s National Team practice.

Tennis Channel and Tennis Channel Plus offer live coverage of all Davis Cup quarterfinal competition this weekend, including the US/Croatia in Portland. In addition, the network carries the 2016 International Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday at 12:30p, along with live coverage of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships’ quarterfinals, semifinals and finals throughout the weekend.

“My Wish” returns to ESPN starting Sunday on the 11p edition of SportsCenter, marking the feature’s 10thanniversary. The year docket, in partnership with Make-A-Wish, will include MVP Steph Curry, three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt, MLB National League MVP Bryce Harper and the World Cup-winning U.S. Women’s National soccer team. All features will re-air multiple times on other editions of SportsCenter.

SiriusXM hits the 2016 Open Championship with more than 40 hours of live play-by-play, featuring both the ESPN Audio and IMG’s @TheOpen Radio broadcasts, spanning all four days of tournament play staring tomorrow. Tournament play-by-play will begin on SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio at 3a along with ESPN Radio.

Imperfections anchor Reebok’s latest chapter of its Be More Human campaign, #PerfectNever, “which celebrates the perfection of imperfection and symbolizes Reebok’s approach to self-betterment.” The spot features Ronda Rousey preparing to return following her lone loss and is shot by Anthony Mandler, “There are a lot of unrealistic standards being put on everyone. I think it’s good to have examples out there who say, ‘You know what, not everyone is always going to like you, but life will go on, you’ll be OK and you can still love yourself,’” said Rousey.

Nissan, which serves as the Official Automotive Partner of the Rio 2016 Games, held a special ceremony at the Sambodromo to officially deliver the Olympic vehicle fleet to the Local Organizing Committee.

The Olympic fleet will be made up of more than 4,200 Nissan vehicles, including more than 200 Nissan Kicks  the official vehicle of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games and used to transport the athletes, delegation members and guests attending the Games, as well as to support operational activities and some competitions.

NESN Fuel will become the primary sponsor of Greg Biffle’s No. 16 Ford this weekend when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series hits Loudon for the New Hampshire 301 on July 17. The new site serve as a car enthusiast’s online home for everything automotive, featuring written and video content on an array of car related topics including consumer car information, auto racing, car culture and entertainment.

The Atlanta United FC nabbed American Family Insurance as a key sponsor for the club’s inaugural MLS season in 2017. The multi-year partnership will see the company featured on the first team’s jerseys and training gear. Atlanta United will reveal their first official kit and training apparel, featuring the American Family Insurance logo, later this year.

DIGITAL & STREAMING

NBC Sports Group continues to make a play for a new generation of golf fans, detailing a partnership with Whistle Sports for its inaugural year with The Open. The two companies launched a creative promotional campaign that “showcases the severe playing conditions synonymous with golf’s original major championship in an amusing, unconventional way” that was filmed in New York City. The campaign spotlights a customized indoor golf simulator featuring Royal Troon with surprise elements coming into play on every swing, including European golf instructors Peter Finch and Rick Shiels blowing leaf blowers and squirting water in faces to simulate The Open’s windy and rainy conditions. The resulting video will span multiple social platforms, including Whistle Sports’ Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channel, along with Golf Channel’s social media platforms. Other “shorts” include advice from Finch and Shiels and a behind-the-scenes clip from the shoot.

The PGA of America is teaming with Lagardere Sports and Turner Sports to launched a new 12-part, digital short-documentary series chronicling Davis Love III’s journey as Ryder Cup Captain.  The American Captain Presented by Mercedes-Benz can be seen at RyderCup.com with new episodes debuting each Tuesday as well as on Bleacher Report.

Rick Fox’s eSports franchise, Echo Fox, is blazing new trails, locking in a partnership with Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss’ bitcoin and ether exchange, Gemini to “integrate the emerging global market of cryptocurrencies into eSports.” “There is a deep-seated connection between video game culture and digital currency and the futures of both are innately linked,” said Fox. “With the rapid increase in the number of popular international events and athletes coming from every corner of world, the borderless nature of bitcoin makes it a promising candidate to become the de facto standard for payments across all aspects of eSports.”

Twitch unveiled details surrounding its new Industry track for TwitchCon 2016, offering more than 70 confirmed panels. Sessions are broken down into two different tracks: a Community track that focuses on subjects related to broadcasting, moderating, and the fan experience, and a new Industry track related to the business and development of video games and live streaming. TwitchCon 2016 will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the San Diego Convention Center.
