The Cavs win notched a 15.7 U.S. household rating, making it the highest-rated NBA game since Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals. Overall, the 2016 NBA Finals on ABC ranked as the most-watched NBA Finals since 1998, averaging 20,166,000 viewers and an 11.3 rating for its seven games. Cleveland ranks as the top market, with a 46.3 in the Cleveland market with San Francisco pulling a 39.4 rating. Rounding out the top five were Columbus (30.1), Miami (24.3), and San Antonio (23.6).

ON THE AIR

ESPN nabbed the other half of the Big Ten slate, according to SBJ, and will pick up the second half of the league’s media rights package for $190 million a year over six years. FOX Sports had already agreed to the other half of the rights, which included the Big Ten football championship and selection advantages, while CBS Sports had locked in a basketball-only agreement. Overall, the talley would hand the conference $2.64 over six years according to the report, not including BTN programming. The deals are expected to be announced next month.

Univision Deportes saw its Copa America Centenario quarterfinal ratings surge, averaging 3.9 million viewers with 2.2 million Adults 18-49 per match. Saturday’s Mexico/Chile match averaged 5.6 million viewers to lead the pack, with the US/Ecuador and Colombia/Pero contests averaging 3.5 million while Argentina/Venezuela delivered 3.3 million.

FOX Sports laid out its semifinal broadcast teams and expanded studio programming for the USA/Argentina battle at the Copa America tonight at 9p on FS1. NBC named Dave Briggs (Bravo/Tennis), Ahmed Fareed (USA Network), Brett Haber (Bravo/Tennis), Fred Roggin (CNBC) and Rob Simmelkjaer (MSNBC) as hosts for NBC Olympics coverage of the Summer Games. “With expansive coverage across multiple networks, we are excited to have these talented on-air personalities guide our viewers through the events of the day,” said Jim Bell, Executive Producer, NBC Olympics.

Speaking of NBC, SNF is giving its opening an overhaul, with Carrie Underwood recording a new opening theme song for the NFL program. The song, entitled “Oh, Sunday Night,” is described as a mix of country, rock, and pop. “Oh, Sunday Night” is set to the music of “Somethin’ Bad,” a chart-topping duet from Underwood and Miranda Lambert which was released in 2014.

IMG is renewing its ties with the Premier League in a new deal with the pair continuing to jointly operate Premier League Productions for the next three seasons. The new deal sees the Premier League Content Service expanded to offer new series, including one dedicated to the Premier League’s own fantasy gaming service.

The Los Angeles Rams locked in a five-year agreement with ESPNLA 710AM to serve as the Rams’ official home and flagship radio partner. The agreement covers pre-season, regular-season, and post-season games, with extensive pre and post-game shows, producing an eight-hour game-day broadcast.
