The new visuals will flow through the net’s onscreen and online presence starting this fall.

A study from the Annenberg Public Policy Center determined that The Colbert Report did a better job informing the public about campaign financing than broadcast news shows, CNN, Fox News or MSNBC. Humor helped get the message across, said the APPC; so did Colbert’s creation of a super PAC for his satire show, walking viewers through the process. The host leaves his Comedy Central perch to take over for departing David Letterman on CBS‘s Late Show next year.

CNBC is no longer guaranteeing Nielsen ratings for the business day, reports Adweek. With much of the business net’s audience watching at the office, unmonitored by Nielsen, a source tells Adweek the company’s guarantees are based on its own measurement of ad deliveries. Said Seth Winter, EVP, news and sports ad sales group, "As we continue to explore the best measurement opportunities, our conversations with clients include new metrics that accurately demonstrate the power of the CNBC audience."

SYNDICATION

Gannett Broadcasting and Debmar-Mercury have formed a partnership to develop, produce and distribute first-run broadcast series that focus on audience interactivity, in a deal structured to allow testing of series on Gannett stations.Citing Gannett’s "strong roster of major-market affiliates and cutting-edge digital capabilities," Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said, "We are big believers in the on-air testing model, because it gives stations concrete information on which to base their buying decisions before making long-term commitments to a series."
