NBC Sports Group took a quartet of trophies for personality categories, with Bob Costas winning Sports Personality / Studio Host (with MLB Network), Collinsworth nabbing Sports Personality / Sports Event Analyst, Mike Emrick earning Sports Personality Play-by-Play and Michele Tafoya winning the Emmy for Sports Reporter. The company also earned kudos for Live Sports Series for Sunday Night Football, which also won Production Design/Art Direction. ON THE AIR

The opening round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs on ESPN scored as the second most-watched and second-highest rated ever, according to Nielsen numbers. The nine games that ran on ESPN saw double-digit increases in both viewership and rating over 2013, averaging 3,466,000 viewers, up 12% from last season and pulling a 2.2 household rating for a 10% uptick. The NBA Playoffs are also up across the board for the two games that ran on ESPN2, averaging a 0.9 ratings for a 13% climb and viewership of 1,232,000. On WatchESPN, average minute audience hit 23,623, up 111% over last year’s first round.

After watching the NHL skate to the competition, Canada’s TSN is countering by doubling down on its platforms. TSN announced that it will expand from two to five national feeds in a move to give Canadians "most sports and more choice than ever before." Programming is set to include the World Juniors, Grey Cup, FIFA World Cup 2015-2022, Grand Slam tennis, golf’s majors and more. Channels will be branded TSN1, TSN2, etc. and will all be available this fall. The new channels will also carry different editions of the sports broadcaster’s main evening news show Sportscentre for different time zones, as well as programming that includes content from ESPN.

NBCSN saw Game 1 of the second round Minnesota/Chicago NHL Playoff series deliver 1.951 million average viewers. That bests Thursday’s Montreal/Boston matchup to rank as the channel’s most-watched Game 1 in the second round ever. The contest also surpassed Montreal/Boston as NBCSN’s third most-watched Round 2 game overall.

ESPN debuts Inside: U.S. Soccer’s March to Brazil on May 13 at 7p, examining the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team as they prepare for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The series is produced by Jonathan Hock and Roger Bennett and will go inside the training camp with six episodes on deck.

FOX Sports announced its own six-part docu-series to debut on May 13, entitled The Pecos League. The series will run Tuesdays on FOX Sports 1 and follow second-year franchise the Trinidad Triggers as the team plays 70 games in 72 days in its quest for a Pecos League championship. The series is co-produced by 44 Blue Productions and FOX Sports Originals, with executive producers Rasha Drachkovitch and Andrew Fried.

NFL Network is bringing back The Top 100 Players, with the fourth season set to premiere on Saturday at 8p, following the conclusion of the NFL Draft. The weekly series will then air Wednesdays at 9p, followed by a reactions show at 10p through July 9, when a back-to-back episode finale unveils the top 10 players of 2014.

CBS Sports Radio announced plans for the NFL Draft, broadcasting live from Radio City Music Hall starting Thursday at 6p. CBS Sports Radio overnight host Damon Amendolara serves as reporter and broadcasts will offer live announcements of the draft picks, player interviews and analysis.

MSG Network has its own draft plans, carrying an NFL draft special geared towards Giants fans on Thursday night from 8:30-10:30p. Giants First & 10: Draft Night Live Presented by Verizon will look to offer news, expert analysis and interviews with Bob Papa in studio at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center alongside Carl Banks and Roman Oben.

DirecTV CEO Michael White told analysts in a conference call yesterday that a lineup without SportsNet LA has had little damage to its subs. "We’d still like to carry the Dodgers," he stated, according to Deadline. "We’re still having discussions with Time Warner Cable about it," but stated that "It’s a tax on most customers who wouldn’t pay it if they had a choice."

Street League Skateboarding revealed the dates and locations of the 2014 SLS Nike SB World Tour, with new stops in Chicago and Los Angeles as well as the first-ever SLS Pro Open season kick-off event. Events will be carried on FOX Sports 1 with the SLS Monster Energy Pro Open kicking off the season the weekend of May 17-18 and running as a one-hour SLS Kick-Off Special on FOX Sports 1 on May 29 at 8p.
