Welcome to the family: Leading up to the season three premiere of BBC America’s Orphan Black, sister net IFC will air a 21-hour marathon of the first two seasons starting at midnight on Friday, April 17. Round three of the sci-fi drama launches across all AMC Networks channels – IFC, AMC, WE tv, SundanceTV and BBC America – on Saturday, April 18 at 9p.

IN THE NEWS

Traditional TV viewership in the U.S. declined 11 percent over the past year, according to a new Accenture survey. Viewership of those 55+ dropped 6 percent for movies/TV shows and 1 percent for sports programming, while viewership in the 18-34 demo fell 14 percent and 12 percent. Among 14-17 year olds, not surprisingly, the drop was steeper – 33 percent for movies/TV shows and 26 percent for sports. “TV shows and movies are now a viewing staple on mobile devices of all shapes and sizes, thanks to improved streaming and longer battery life,” said the report. “The second screen viewing experience is where the content creators, broadcasters and programmers will succeed or fail.”

Bruce Jenner has been making headlines as the clock ticks down to his April 24 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer, but son Brody grabbed the spotlight Tuesday with the announcement that E! has picked up relationship series Sex with Brody. Based on the younger Jenner’s podcast, the talk show is “taking a fun approach that leaves nearly nothing off limits,” said EVP original programming & development Jeff Olde. Therapist Dr. Mike Dow and comedian Stevie Ryan round out the discussion panel. First of four eps launches Friday, July 10 at 10:30p.

History miniseries Texas Rising has grown from six to ten hours, airing in two-hour installments Monday, May 25, Tuesday, May 26, and the first three Mondays in June. Cast includes Bill Paxton, Brendan Fraser, Ray Liotta and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

On the heels of MTV2’s highest-rated quarter ever (“outpunching its weight class,” as GM Chris McCarthy put it), the net gave a pilot order and two series greenlights. Animated pilot Celebrity Deathmatch revives fantasy fights, while docu-series Kingin’ with Tyga follows the recording artist and his crew, and talk show Uncommon Sense with Charlamagne tha God is hosted by the Guy Code star.

HLN ordered a game show based on the “Heads Up!” game and app from The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Comedian Loni Love (The Real) will host the weekday offering from Telepictures, launching in 1Q16. “I’m so excited thatHeads Up!is going to be a game show,” said DeGeneres. “It’s so fun and addictive. I play it on my show all the time. I play it at home. I played it last night at Jennifer Aniston’s house. She wasn’t home, so please don’t print that part.” Heads Up!, downloaded over 16 million times, was Apple’s top paid app of 2014.

Telemundo and Estudios TeleMexico struck a multi-year agreement through which Estudios TeleMexico will produce primetime series and novelas for Telemundo in the U.S. Telemundo Internacional will distribute the series worldwide.

The Weinstein Company grabbed rights to Truman Capote crime story In Cold Blood, to adapt for TV as a miniseries. Gary Oldman and Douglas Urbanski’s Flying Studios will produce.

Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) will direct and exec produce event series The Alienist, inspired by the best-selling novel by Caleb Carr. Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) will exec produce and Hossein Amin (The Wings of the Dove), who wrote the pilot, will write and executive produce. Series is the first collaboration stemming from a first look production deal between Paramount Television and Anonymous Content.

UPFRONTS UPDATE

TV One talked up ratings growth at its Upfront lunch yesterday at NYC’s Helen Mills. “I think TV One is going to be in the best position it’s ever been in,” said net president Brad Siegel. “We just finished a record-breaking first quarter. We are the only network in our competitive set that’s growing and growing big. We’re up 26 percent in persons 25-54, and if we look at a broadcast prime 8-11, we’re up 45 percent in persons 18-49 and 36 percent in persons 25-54. So, we have had tremendous growth and we’re going to continue that growth because it’s being fueled by our investment in original programming and marketing. I think we go into the Upfront with a great message.”

What makes TV One stand out? “We’re the only 100 percent, or soon-to-be 100 percent, minority-owned network,” said Siegel. “We’re the only network with a real growth story across every demographic. And our programming strategy is working.”

That strategy includes comedies Born Again Virgin, premiering this summer, and Mitch ‘N Max. The NAACP Image Awards is a new tentpole show for the net, with another tentpole coming in the fall. And music programming is being revamped, Rahsan-Rahsan Lindsay, SVP of ad sales and marketing, tells Cynopsis. “It is an opportunity for a company like ours, which has a number of music-based shows, to see if this is an ancillary opportunity for us,” says Lindsay. “It’s good for music, too, because the way people discover music now is very different.”

What’s next? “You’re going to start to see shows where the characters are more fully developed and a bit more complex, dealing with issues that are of the moment, that will make them more relevant,” says Lindsay. “The opportunity to create anchors that can drive the network is there.”

ABC Family announced it is doubling its original programming slate over the next four years, with a mix of scripted and reality series. Renewed scripted hits Pretty Little Liars, Switched at Birth and The Fosters will be joined by Stitchers, Becoming Us and Kevin From Work this summer; Shadowhunters, based on young adult book series The Mortal Instruments, and drama Recovery Road are slated for fall. Eight additional shows are in development. “We are going to expand in all genres,” said EVP Programming Karey Burke. “The goal is to get more year-round originals, so we need to have more of everything.”

The net is targeting what it calls “becomers,” women from their mid-teens to late 20s. “Becomers are exploring and establishing who they are becoming  personally, professionally and romantically – they live in that magical and messy place between their first kiss and their first kid,” said ABC Family president Tom Ascheim. And to serve their media habits, the net is launching the next generation of its WATCH ABC Family app this summer. “Our audience is comprised of mobile natives," said Ascheim. "They live in a digital world and have the expectation that their shows will be available to them on whatever device they are on. The WATCH ABC Family app delivers on that expectation. Our next generation will put the social tools our audience loves next to the shows they want to talk about.”
