Mark Burnett and Mexico’s Televisa are partnering for quiz show Generation Gap, featuring family members of different generations answering multiple choice questions. But don’t look for feuding. The show is “fast-paced, a lot of fun, very play-along and uplifting,” said Burnett (The Voice, The Bible) at MIPTV on Monday.

IN THE NEWS

The Bachelor host Chris Harrison has signed on to host syndicated game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire at the start of its 14th season in fall 2015. Harrison, who has manned 19 seasons of the dating series, continues on Bachelor, as well as The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise. He grabs the game show reins from Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), who joined at the start of season 13 but is unable to continue due to film and primetime television demands, said Disney/ABC.

The CW set a summer slate that places Whose Line Is It Anyway? after Penn & Teller: Fool Us starting Monday, July 6, and returns America’s Next Top Model to Wednesdays on August 5, with new reality show A Wicked Offer. Beauty and the Beast premieres Thursday, May 21 at 8p, joined by Dates on July 9.  Masters of Illusion is back Friday, July 10 at 8p, followed by an encore of Whose Line, and an original episode of Messengers.

A talk show starring actor/rapper Ice-T and his wife, Coco Austin (Ice Loves Coco) will get a three-week test on select Fox Television Stations beginning Monday, August 3. “Ice-T helped change popular culture,” said Frank Chicha, Fox TV Stations SVP, programming. “We’re trying to do the same for daytime.” Ice & Coco will be exec produced by Candi Carter (The Oprah Winfrey Show) and produced by Telepictures Productions for Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

Games over? Periscope users who sent out live personal broadcasts of Sunday’s season five premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones could find themselves in hot water, reports Mashable. Terms of service for Twitter’s social-streaming app allow for accounts be terminated for copyright infringement, said a spokesperson, and Periscope will terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. Periscope is hardly the biggest of HBO’s problems, though  a review screener leaked online Saturday was downloaded over a million times.

Just in time for yesterday’s season two launch of Fear Thy Neighbor, Investigation Discovery released a Nielsen Content online study showing 51 percent of people polled do not feel safe in their neighborhoods, and 27 percent suspect their neighbors could be criminals. Watch out for those ID viewers, who are even more suspicious than the norm – the poll indicates they’re likelier than most to use binoculars to spy on the folks next door.

VH1 greenlit She’s Got Game, starring rap artist Jayceon Taylor (Marrying the Game) as he searches for the perfect match – with an assist from his celeb pals. Series is slated to launch this summer. Christian Sarabia and Angela Aguilera produce for 51 Minds.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

NBCUniversal International Television Production is teaming with RTL in Germany and TF1 in France to produce English-language procedurals in North America. “Procedural drama is a highly popular TV format in the global marketplace due to its episodic, rather than serialized, format. This pioneering venture with RTL and TF1 has the ability to create a number of exciting new series and represents the bold approach of these forward thinking broadcasters,” said Michael Edelstein, NBCU-ITVP president. “For the first time, our partners will have the opportunity to commission U.S. procedural drama directly from a company with a proven track record of success in the genre.”

On the heels of its Kate Middleton: Heir We Go Again!, UK’s Woodcut Media is producing documentary special Prince Harry: Ten Years a Soldier, a look at the royal’s military career.

RENEWALS

Veep will be back for a fifth season and Silicon Valley for a third, announced HBO the day after the comedies launched seasons four and two. “Along with Game of Thrones and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, both of which have already been renewed for 2016, they give HBO a stellar Sunday night like no other,” said Michael Lombardo, president, HBO programming.

Hallmark Channel renewed Good Witch for a 12-episode season two, boasting the Whizbang Films production is the most-watched primetime drama in its time period among total viewers and highest-rated among HH. Season one finale airs Saturday, April 18 at 8p.

A+E Networks launched Asterisk, a brand exploring culture through the lens of history with video, photos, articles, GIFs, Vines and other content in 10 categories. INTERNATIONAL HAPPENINGS

Armoza Formats’ Babushka, developed in partnership with Ryan Seacrest Productions and TF1 Group, was acquired in Italy, Spain and Portugal. In the game show, contestants open eight of ten giant Russian “babushka” dolls for prizes.

AMC Networks International announced expansion across EMEA, the CIS, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific regions. “There is clear and strong demand for our line-up of globally renowned, locally relevant channels with many platform operators adding or repositioning our services onto their basic tiers in recent months to make them widely available to customers,” said Ed Palluth, EVP of global distribution. “AMC and Sundance Channel Global remain among the first choice of operators looking to offer a wide selection of exclusive original dramas.”

FremantleMedia, Shanghai Media Group’s BesTV and China Media Capital announced an exclusive joint venture partnership that will create and develop entertainment formats for the China market on Dragon TV and BesTV platforms, and take proprietary China content to the world market through FremantleMedia’s global distribution network. The development team will be based in Shanghai.
