CYNOPSISSPORTS
03.12.15

Good morning. It’s Thursday March 12, 2015, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

Part show, part stunt and all social, HBO is teaming with Will Ferrell for a new special that will air on the network from Funny or Die in partnership with MLB. The actor will honor Bert Campaneris when he hits five different spring training ballparks in Arizona today, with the antics set to run on the network later this year. (Campaneris once played every position on the field for ten different teams in the same day five decades ago.) Ferrell’s journey will be covered on social media using #FerrellTakesTheField, with funds being raised to help fight cancer. His first game is at 12:05p PT for the Mariners/Athletics with game-used memorabilia set to be auctioned at MLB.com with proceeds being donated to Cancer for College, as well as Stand Up To Cancer.

Meanwhile, MLB Network will be on hand to cover the action, and will televise the Dodgers/Padres game at 9p ET with Matt Vasgersian and Mark Grant reuniting for the call. The channel will also simulcast the Cubs/Angels at 4p. Ferrell is also scheduled to appear for a live interview on High Heat with Christopher Russo earlier in the day at noon.
