Fox has renewed long-running comedic procedural Bones for a 12-episode, farewell season. David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel have closed deals to return as the series’ leading duo, Booth and Brennan. Showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson are also set to return. “In times like these, it’s comforting to know the world can count on at least one beacon of stability. Apparently, that beacon is Bones,” said creator and EP Hart Hanson. “It shows what you can do with an amalgam of genius cast, amazing crew, cunning writers, stalwart studio, sweat, a tough economy, a mercurial network, determination, luck, magic, miracles and the most loyal audience in the world.”
Scripps Networks Interactive, Inc. has acquired the remaining 35 percent interest in Travel ChannelMedia from Cox Communications Inc., for $99 million in cash, which includes the value of certain tax benefits. The transaction gives Scripps full ownership of the cable net in which it initially acquired a controlling interest in 2009. “Full ownership of Travel Channel enables us to take maximum advantage of its continued growth as we build value for our shareholders,” said Kenneth W. Lowe, Scripps’ president, chairman and chief executive officer.
CNN is launching The Eighties on Thursday, March 31, at 9p. The seven-part series follows the network’s The Sixties and The Seventies, which aired in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, the series will feature archival footage and interviews with historians, musicians, journalists and television artists and examine everything from Ronald Reagan’s presidency and the AIDS crisis to the end of the Cold War.
Pop and Entertainment Tonight are teaming up to bring fans closer to their favorite movie stars at The Oscars. Hosted by ET’s Nancy O’Dell and Kevin Frazier with correspondent Nischelle Turner and fashion expert Jeannie Mai, Entertainment Tonight at The Oscars Live on Pop will provide live television coverage from the red carpet on Sunday, February 28 at 5p ET.
Music superstars Cam, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Florida Georgia Line are the first performers announced for the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards. The show, co-hosted by Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley, will be broadcast live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3 at 8p on CBS.
Ariana Grande is doing double duty on the March 12 episode of Saturday Night Live. The former Scream Queens star and singer is making her hosting debut on the NBC series as well as serving as the musical guest. Grande last appeared as a musical guest in 2014.
NBC and Litton Entertainment are partnering to expand NBC’s public service awareness brand “The More You Know” into a new programming block. It will air for three hours on Saturday mornings and include six half-hour educational and informational series targeted to 13- to 16-year-olds with family-friendly topics. "NBC has a 30-year investment in ‘The More You Know.’ Litton is honored to be entrusted to build [on] it. It is our partnership strategy to launch six new television series this fall, with the advantage of NBC’s assets and talent," said Dave Morgan, Litton founder and CEO.
A+E Networks has a new approach for this year’s Upfront. According to Peter Olsen, EVP of A+E Networks Ad Sales, “The Upfront has become a 24/7; 52-week proposition and with that in mind, we will go to market with a series of small strategic meetings, brand-focused events and screenings with our valued partners.” Some of A+E’s bigger projects include Roots on History, season two of UnREAL on Lifetime, and Bates Motel on A&E.

Spike has ordered a production pilot from Dimension Television based on the Stephen King novella “The Mist.” The original scripted series is the story of a seemingly innocuous fog that seeps into a small town and creates havoc. This is the first production pilot for a Spike scripted dramatic series since the network’s shift toward general entertainment.
Netflix has picked up Ozark, the drama starring and executive produced and directed by Jason Bateman, reports Deadline. The series investigates the dark and dangerous world of drug-money laundering.
COMING UP
GetTV kicks off all-new block “Get Lost In TV” every Wednesday in March at 8p, spotlighting a different television classic each week, airing five episodes back-to-back. The block bows on March 2 with a tribute to the 1957 crime comedy series The Thin Man. Also to be featured: Gene Roddenberry’s 1963 military drama The Lieutenant, starring Robert Vaughn, the 1971 family comedy The Jimmy Stewart Show, and others.
Logo hosts a 10-episode marathon of 227, the sitcom that ran on NBC from 1985-1990 and depicted black family life in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, February 27 at 2:27p. Series star and Emmy winner Jackee Harry picked her 10 favorite episodes and will introduce each throughout the day.
Concluding its celebration of Black History Month, TV One is partnering with PBS to simulcast a special Ray Charles Tribute: In Performance at the White House on Friday, February 26 at 9p. The 90-minute concert salutes the legacy of the legendary singer/songwriter and will be hosted by President and Mrs. Obama. Encores will air Friday, February 26 at 10:30p and Sunday, February 28 at 5p.

Fox has announced a premiere date for Houdini & Doyle. The adventure drama focuses on the real-life friendship between illusionist Harry Houdini (Michael Weston) and Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Stephen Mangan) as they join forces with New Scotland Yard to investigate unsolved crimes with a supernatural slant. Show bows Monday, May 2 at 9p.
Look for new OWN docu-series For Peete’s Sake to launch Saturday, March 19 at 9p.
Principal photography has wrapped on Bounce TV’s Saints & Sinners. The net’s first original drama series was shot on location in Atlanta and centers on power, corruption and murder against the backdrop of a large southern church. Bows Sunday, March 6 at 9p.
Bravo Media‘s The Real Housewives of Dallas premieres Monday, April 11 at 10p. The newest Real Housewives franchise examines the lives of southern socialites Cary Deuber, Tiffany Hendra, Stephanie Hollman, LeeAnne Locken and Brandi Redmond, along with their friend Marie Reyes, as they climb their way to the top of the city’s most exclusive circle.

Tyler Perry‘s If Loving You is Wrong premieres with all-new episodes Tuesday, March 15 at 10p on OWN, following the season finale of The Haves and the Have Nots at 9p. The series moves to its regular time slot at 9p, beginning Tuesday, March 22.
Food Network‘s confectionery competition, Spring Baking Championship, returns on Sunday, April 10at 9p. Bobby Deen is back to host the action as eight of the country’s best bakers compete to create the most impressive springtime treats and vie for approval from judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale.
AT&T Audience Network brings back suspense drama Rogue on Wednesday, March 23 at 9p. The show is available exclusively to DirectTV and AT&T U-verse customers. Set in Chicago, the show’s focus on crime vs. authority continues in a new chapter on the Russian mafia and government espionage.

Game of Throne‘s Finn Jones has landed the title role in Marvel’s Iron Fist, Marvel’s latest Netflix collaboration.
Revenge alum Madeline Stowe, who originated the role of Dr. Railly in 1995 film 12 Monkeys, is set to appear in the Syfy adaptation as an entirely new character, reports EW. She first appears in the Season 2 finale as Lillian, a psychiatric ward patient.
Katey Sagal has nabbed the lead opposite John Carroll Lynch in the CBS comedy pilot based on Australian format Upper Middle Bogan.
Alvin “Xzibit” Joiner is guest starring on Empire as music mogul/gangster Leslie ‘Shyne’ Johnson. Series returns Wednesday, March 30 at 9p on Fox.

Scooter Braun has signed on as Creative Executive Producer for the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards. The event takes place Saturday April 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The special two-hour telecast, Disney Channel Presents the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards, airs Sunday, May 1 at 7p on Disney Channel in the U.S. and thereafter, in 159 countries. In fact, the Net finished #1 on the first 3 Wednesdays of the February sweep for the first time in 20 years since February 1996. ABC’s Wednesday lineup gained 6 percent week to week with young adults. CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood delivered more than 6 million viewers for the eighth consecutive week, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, February 21. The show posted 6.04 million viewers and a 1.4/07 in A25-54. NBC‘s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has scored victories for the late-night ratings week of February 15-19, prevailing in every key measure adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers versus CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. For the week, Fallon beat Colbert in A18-49 rating by a 68 percent advantage (0.96 rating vs. a 0.57) and topped Kimmel by an 81 percent margin (with a 0.96 vs. 0.53).
