Original cast members from some of TV’s most iconic comedies will be on hand for NBC’s Must See TV: A Tribute to James Burrows, celebrating the sitcom director’s 1000th episode (for NBC’s Crowded). “The caliber of talent joining us to celebrate Jimmy’s accomplishments is a testament to his imprint in television history,” said Paul Telegdy, president, alternative and late night programming. In addition to previously announced Friends dropping by (albeit Matthew Perry in a pre-taped segment), cast members from Cheers, Frasier, Will & Grace, Taxi, The Big Bang Theory, Wings, Mike & Molly will be on hand, as well as Two and a Half Men’s Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen. Special airs Sunday, February 21 at 9p.

CBS O&O’s and affiliates on Mountain and Pacific time will have the option of airing the Grammy Awards live on Monday, February 15, rather than on a delayed basis. The move follows a similar strategy for The Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globes, so viewers can keep pace with social chatter. Participating stations in the Pacific time zone will rerun the awards show after the live broadcast.

Nielsen is adding Facebook to its social ratings, for the past three years restricted to Twitter. Slated to debut in the first half of 2016, the new data, dubbed Social Content Ratings, “is part of Nielsen’s ongoing effort to evolve our measurement to reflect the total audience across screens and platforms,” said Nielsen Social president Sean Casey. “Nielsen Social measurement is evolving to provide a comprehensive, standardized picture of how consumers are responding to program content through social media, wherever and whenever.” Social media conversation about original video programming from TV and OTT streaming providers will be measured for linear airtimes as well as on a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week basis. Next up: Instagram.

BET had a question for Fox News contributor Stacey Dash after the Clueless actress suggested on Wednesday’s Fox & Friends that, “if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards where you’re only awarded if you’re black.” Along with a shot of Dash on the network’s The Game, BET tweeted, “Soooooo @RealStaceyDash can we get our check back…or nah?”

The recipients of the NAACP Chairman’s Award, presented during the 47th Annual NAACP Image Awards on Friday, February 5 at 9p on TV One, include Brittany “Bree” Newsome; Justice League NYC; Concerned Student 1950 Collective at the University of Missouri, Columbia; The University of Mississippi NAACP College Chapter; Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III; Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley; Rev. Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant, and Jussie Smollett. Two-hour special airs live.

Kelly Cass joins Weather Channel morning show AMHQ Weekend on Saturday, January 23.

The Warner Bros. Television Directors’ Workshop, launched in 2014, is accepting applications for its May-August 2016 session. Aspiring TV directors meet Saturdays on the Warner Bros. Studios lot to hone their skills, pre-production through shooting and post-production.

SYNDICATION

“Bring lots of Advil everywhere you go.” That was one syndicator’s instructions to staff, and with the commotion of day two of NATPE, it was easy to see why. Highlights included Steve Harvey’s musing on what makes Family Feud a good show:“It’s my reaction to contestants’ answers”…. One attendee took advantage of Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos’ moderating a conversation with QuincyJones and Norman Lear to pitch Sarandos on his show idea during the Q&A…people agreed that yes, there is too much content out there, so look for consolidation in the next year or so…the morning also featured recovery from A+E Networks/Trifecta party, which celebrated the launch of Pawn Stars into the U.S. syndication market. Pawn’s Rick Harrison and Chumlee joined in the festivities. Also getting high marks last night was Telemundo’s programming presentation and vodka-infused reception at Nobu.

Daytime’s FABLife will not be back for a second season. “We’re extremely proud of everyone involved with the show and would like to thank them for all of their contributions and tireless efforts,” said Janice Marinelli, president of Disney/ABC home entertainment and television distribution. ADVERTISING AND BRANDS

Thanks to bot fraud, advertisers will lose about $7.2 billion globally in 2016, according to a new study from the Association of National Advertisers and fraud tracker White Ops. Based on the collection of nearly 10 billion online ad impressions across 1300 campaigns from August 1-September 30 of last year, less than a third of advertisers had a decrease in bot rates versus 2014 and the average and overall rates were about the same.

Calling broadband providers “Internet gatekeepers,” 59 advocacy groups signed a letter to FCC chairman Tom Wheeler asking for the adoption of new privacy rules that would prevent the collection of data without consumers’ consent. “Providers of broadband Internet access service, including fixed and mobile telephone, cable, and satellite television providers, have a unique role in the online ecosystem,” said the letter, citing “the potential for discriminatory practices derived from data use.” The FCC has said it would consider issuing new broadband rules.

The Rite Aid Foundation’s KidCents program donated $2 million to the non-profit Fred Rogers Company to support production of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. As part of the partnership, a Rite Aid Foundation underwriting spot will air before and after every episode. Series airs daily on PBS Kids.

Google is launching a new ad format, Real-Time Ads, that allows brands to “be part of live events conversations in a way that’s timely and relevant.” Brands will be able to instantly run an ad across YouTube, apps and Google’s Display Network that connects with a moment that just happened. The product is in beta, with the Super Bowl its first big test. Website developer Wix is onboard for the Big Game.
