ADVERTISING

Cynopsis will be honoring the industry’s top advertising talent at the Buyers & Planners Awards celebration in NYC on February 7. Who are our all-star nominees? Today’s nod goes to Samantha Rose, VP, director video investment, Horizon Media.

Cynopsis: What is the biggest challenge facing the advertising community today?

Sam Rose: Information overload! There is so much discussion around data, but that is an extraordinarily broad term – what does this “data” really mean for advertisers and how can it impact their business is a lot to dig through and there is no one size fits all approach. Also, the continued evolution of technology and data can impede progress since there is new information to decipher every day.

Cynopsis: What kind of education or experience best helped prepare you for your job?

Rose: Although I completely value the education I had, the real preparation for me was on the job experience.

Cynopsis: What do you find most rewarding about working at Horizon?

Rose: The culture and people. The people who I’ve worked with (many for over 10 years) are the best of the best, both professionally and personally. Also, Horizon’s independence has allowed me to learn, grow and take on new responsibilities with less red tape to wade through.

Cynopsis: And of course, what are you wearing to the Cynopsis Awards?
Rose: I am due to give birth earlier that day so unfortunately wont be in attendance. But hopefully will be wearing either a hospital gown or pajamas!

For questions about the event, which will also includes the inaugural TV Awards, please email Jenn@Cynopsis.com.

Joe Belliotti, head of global entertainment, will share learnings and predictions at the Cynopsis webinar, “How to Monetize Around Live Video” on January 31 (details are here):
What’s the business case for live streaming today?
Live streaming is not only going to open up new avenues in content marketing, but in the near future live video is going to redefine experiential marketing, because the live and visual experiences for this generation are equally as important ad think if you can create great live visual digital virtual experiences, you can connect with consumers as easily ads you can if you were there physically live.
Where do brands stand to gain?
What’s happening right now is that we all know that people have more choice and control over what media they consume, when they consumer it, how they consume it. So creating great fan experiences that people want to be a part of and want to engage in for a long period of time is something that’s going to have benefits for those brands that can crack that.
