IN THE NEWS
Fox News star Megyn Kelly is on the move. The Kelly File host and sometime Donald Trump target inked a multi-year deal with NBC News calling for her to develop and anchor a new daytime program, a new Sunday evening newsmagazine and contribute to breaking news coverage. Kelly has “demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we’re lucky to have her,” said Andrew Lack, Chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group. In her parting words, Kelly said she had been “incredibly enriched for the experiences” at Fox News. While her contract was set to expire this summer, Kelly’s last day at the net will be Friday.
President Obama will deliver his farewell address on Tuesday, January 10 from Chicago. “I’m just beginning to write my remarks,” he told Americans on Tuesday. “But I’m thinking about them as a chance to say thank you for this amazing journey, to celebrate the ways you’ve changed this country for the better these past eight years, and to offer some thoughts on where we all go from here….I hope you’ll join me one last time. Because for me, it’s always been about you.”
Donald Trump may be having trouble corralling A-list talent to perform for his inauguration festivities, but he’s guaranteed some heavyweight guests. CNN reports Bill and Hillary Clinton will be on hand for the January 20 inauguration, joining former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush. Until Tuesday, Jimmy Carter was the only former president who had agreed to attend.
Despite Will & Grace alum Leslie Jordan’s assertion during a radio interview that NBC ordered 10 episodes of a revival of the 1998-2006 comedy, series star Debra Messing tweeted Monday, “Sadly Leslie was wrong. Nothing beyond talks.”
Gospel singer Kim Burrell, who had been slated to sing with Pharrell Williams on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, “will not be appearing,” tweeted DeGeneres on Tuesday. The curt announcement followed the circulation online of an anti-gay sermon by Burrell.
Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson announced on Today that she has been hired as a “marquee columnist” by Time website Motto. Carlson, whose sexual harassment lawsuit against former FNC chief Roger Ailes helped lead to his exit, will write about women’s rights issues.
