News from GAH Transport Refrigeration: Transport refrigeration manufacturer GAH has scooped the award for Innovation at this year’s RAC Cooling Industry Awards.

Held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, the awards champion leading innovations and environmental successes in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. It is unusual for a transport refrigeration company to be recognised for an RAC award.

In a competitive category, the judges said of the GAH’s RD250e refrigeration system, “An innovative design created in direct response to customer’s needs.”

John Reader, Managing Director of GAH said, “This is a huge achievement for all of us and great to receive the recognition, especially this year, which marks our 20th anniversary.”

The RD250e refrigeration system was designed especially for multi-drop, dual-temperature delivery vehicles and targets some key environmental concerns, such as using more environmentally friendly refrigerants. Field trials have shown a reduction in fuel consumption and they have reduced the system weight, which increases payload.

This system gives operators better temperature control with a lighter unit running a more environmentally friendly refrigerant. It has no engine driven compressor, fewer pipes, fewer joints and carries less refrigerant. In addition, it is quieter in operation so there is less noise pollution.

Although, initially designed in conjunction with supermarkets for home delivery, its green credentials, could make it the future of transport refrigeration for panel vans and box bodies. GAH is a British company specialising in direct-drive refrigeration. All their systems are designed and built in Suffolk and can be used in the transport of anything from consumables to musical instruments and fine art.
