Essential Job Functions:

This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the back-end technologies that run the University web site. The successful candidate will work as part of the Web Services Team and use his or her knowledge of web standards, responsive design, usability and accessibility to implement web sites, provide support for existing web templates, and integrate technologies that relate to the campus web presence. This position works under the supervision of the Web Services Manager in the Information Services Division and works collaboratively with other departments.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability in using HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery and CSS to develop websites based on provided graphical designs.
Experience creating and implementing Responsive Web Design.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Content Management Systems.
Knowledge of Web accessibility standards and usability practices.
Experience with XML and XSLT preferred, willingness to learn is acceptable.
Experience programming for databases, including MySQL, SQL Server, and Oracle.
Knowledge of browser behaviors including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and other emerging web browsers, including mobile devices.
Experience integrating social media such as Facebook and Twitter using APIs.
Experience with web programming languages such as ASP.NET and PHP.
Experience in the use and setup of Google Analytics accounts and reporting features preferred.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Aptitude for problem-solving and basic system administration skills.
Ability to organize, analyze and prioritize workload effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively in a team with other design and technology specialists.
Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with individuals’ at all organizational levels. Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.

Conditions of Appointment:

Employment will require a criminal background check. A pending criminal charge or conviction will not necessarily disqualify an applicant. In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.

A six-month probationary period will also be required. The core work hours for this position are 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Salary:

The salary for this position will be between $45,990 and $62,004 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is in pay schedule and range 07-03 and is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State Retirement plan.
