This Graphic Designer will design web pages for the Alumni Association’s primary web property, mynotredame.nd.edu. The design and content work developed by this position will engage the full Notre Dame family, alumni, parents and friends at varying levels, to promote connectivity between these audiences and the University. MyNotreDame.nd.edu is currently in the early stages of redevelopment and this position will be a key contributor to the redesign and re-launch in Fall 2013. The Designer will work within the content management tool, iModules, to implement designs. The Graphic Designer will be a leader in design execution using the iModules platform and will work with the NDAA IT team and the iModules external development team to understand and push the capabilities of the tool.

This individual will lead a team of up to two students to manage content on the site, designing forms and navigational strategies for optimal usability and managing general content at the site. The Graphic Designer will establish designs complementary to the new website design for our e-newsletter properties and our email promotions (event and otherwise). The Designer will also ensure designs adhere to digital graphic standards he or she will help set with the new site and our other digital properties, as well as coordinate with work created by external print designers and the Communications and Marketing Director.

The Designer will code his or her work to port into iModules as a successful web page or email broadcast. He/she will also manage our digital art assets (video, photography, illustration, logos) etc in coordination with the Communications and Marketing Administrative Assistant.

The Designer will also design printed materials (flyers, logos, brochures, presentations, direct mail and other vehicles) in a supporting role.

Ability to manage light videography assignments (shooting and editing) is ideal.

Minimum Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree required; Visual Arts degree preferred. – 3 to 4 years design experience – Strength in graphic design – Knowledge of software suite compatible with Marketing and Communications, Photoshop & Illustrator, with INDesign as a secondary tool – Strength in implementing best practices for front-end digital designs – Must be comfortable working with content management systems and proficient with HTML and CSS (experience with JavaScript is a plus), with an ability to both create and code responsive digital designs – Ability to interpret client feedback on designs into actionable changes that do not dilute the overall quality of the work – Emerging managerial skills needed to lead and distribute projects to student team
