Hawkins Cookers Ltd is a leading manufacturer of pressure cookers in the country. It was established in the year 1959 by the entrepreneur HD Vasuva in collaboration with L.G.Hawkins of England, hence getting its name. It tapped the world wide market in 1974 when it started to export its products. Today Hawkins is the manufacturer of 65 different models of pressure cookers in 8 different types. The company has been running under the leadership of Mr Brahm Vasudeva, son of HD Vasudeva, since 1984. All Hawkins pressure cookers are listed by Underwriter Labs Inc, USA, a non-profit organization that tests products for safety.
Hawkins Pressure Cooker have world wide renown for having quality and safety as their primary concern. Hawkins Ltd is the pioneer who designed the pressure cookers with an inside fitting lid, that’s safer than the conventional pressure cookers, as they are pressure locked for safety. The 65 models of pressure cookers are under 3 different brands- Hawkins, Futura and Miss Mary.
The different types are:
Hawkins Classic Model- The Classic is Hawkins’ largest-selling, most popular range of pressure cookers – perhaps because of its attractive combination of features, benefits and price.
Futura Pressure Cooker- These elegant pressure cookers have a beautiful black finish given by hard anodising that besides adding to its beauty allows it to absorb heat faster making it energy efficient. Hawkins Contura- The unique rounded sides of these charming cookers give way to easier stirring, better visibility and easier food removal. It is recommended for use on gas stoves.
Hawkins Ekobase Pressure cooker- It is scientifically well known that black surfaces absorb heat more efficiently. Hawkins Ekobase has a hard anodised black base that is permanent allows quick and even heating. The double-thick, heavy gauge base is ideal for light frying before pressure cooking. The base stays flat, never bulges.
Hawkins Ventura Pressure Cooker- This model has a unique air ventile that expels that expels air automatically and that allows the food to be cooked in pure steam.
Hawkins Bigboy Pressure Cooker- The Bigboy range has been specially designed to cook large quantities of food quickly and economically. It is most useful in restaurants, hotels, canteens in factories, hospitals, schools and colleges. The 18 and 22 litre models have a pair of sturdy handle to allow easy handling of the heavy weight.
Miss Mary- Exclusive to India, this is the model that doesn’t leak ensuring safety and trouble free service.
