January 13-14 saw the Curvy Sewing Collective Community celebrating how awesome we all are with “A Very Curvy Sewing Celebration”.
Trips to or meet ups at fabric stores seemed to be a popular way to celebrate; Western Australians held a potluck lunch at the Sewanista Fashion Workshop studio in Malaga, Massachusettsians flocked to Mercer’s Fabric for snacks and drinks and Ontarians headed to Spool and Spindle.
Dresses, from left: Kat (that’s me!) in what has been dubbed “the Gorgeous Grecian Goddess Dress” made with Vogue 1256. Elaine rocks out in Vogue 9145 dress layered over a Vogue 8793 chiffon tee. Tara used a sumptuous velvet flocked taffeta to make Simplicity 2338.
More fabulous dresses, from left: Jessica said no to “casual Friday” in a Cashmerette Appleton dress. Beck chose a lovely print for the Seamwork Catarina dress. Shannon dressed up the Cashmerette Appleton dress with a devine blue-black print fabric.
Separates, from left: Kylena styled her Butterick B6135 top to perfection. Joanne keeps cool in a fabulous floral print Cashmerette Springfield top. Christina positively sparkles in Cashmerette Concord t-shirt paired with a Love Notions Sybil skirt.
Clever mods and hacks, from left: MaLora added a drapey hood to a Kitschy Coo Lady Skater Dress. Melizza lengthened Répulique du Chiffon’s Marthe blouse into a dress. Monserratt made a Cashmerette Turner dress modified with a nursing hack to show you can be practical while you party.
Thank you to everyone who took part by sewing, celebrating, or cheering each other on!
Editor’s Note: A huge thanks to Kat for organising this challenge! She’d never written for the CSC before, but she loved the idea of an online party, and she made organising it look easy. Thanks, Kat!
