Role Summary/Purpose:

The Strategy and Project Manager for Sub Sahara Africa (SSA) will provide leadership in developing strategy, operational plans, metrics, and drive effective growth and risk management for all projects across the different GE businesses in the region. Key leader of the "One GE" project team. The position shall report to the supply chain leader for Africa.The role shall interface with the Customer, Functional Teams and Suppliers as required.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead the team that will be responsible for projects in development across SSA.

Lead projects structuring to maximize GE equipment and services pull through and minimize risk exposure.

Provide guidance in the preparation of development budgets, timelines and project structure.

Manage relationships and lead major negotiations that will culminate in agreement / commercial terms.

Manage the preparation and presentation of investment proposals for business and stakeholder for approval.

Monitor portfolio and actively manage development spend.

Perform the role of lead project manager for agreed projects so that the projects are well managed according to the GE project management framework.

Manage the design and lead research studies that analyze strategic issues and business related opportunities so that decision making is informed by facts and comprehensive analysis.

Manage the production of comprehensive reports that summarize findings and recommendations in order to enhance senior management decision-making.

Act as a senior professional resource in project management so project managers are able to apply the GE project framework.

Lead team development necessary to maintain leading-edge knowledge of analysis techniques and external trends in GE Business areas.

Team leader and will be expected to develop team members.

Lead the One–GE project.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in managing technical/manufacturing projects.

MBA or similar business/strategy related degree or equivalent experience gained in a broad business context and PMP certification.

Must have worked as a Plant Manager with experience in project managing a major transfer of work/factory project.

Must understand the dimensions of transferring and setting up a factory; understand heavy equipment manufacturing business and operations.

Proven leader with demonstrated success developing, implementing and managing large EPC projects is essential.

Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to present and defend a position in front of an executive audience.

Experience in leading diverse teams and interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.

Heavy equipment, manufacturing and EPC companies experience preferred.

Able to lead the framework, people and processes.

Experience in managing projects involving diverse teams.

Good negotiation skills.

Self-starter with initiative and able to manage team to achieve goals.

Strong complex project management skills; knowledge of project management applications Lean Six Sigma or other quality. methodologies; and project controls.

Project analysis, feasibility study, detailed design - commercial closure

Experience with evaluating, negotiating and closing contracts

Demonstrated experience in brokering, structuring and closing deals

Project finance experience, with demonstrated aptitude in economic modeling
