John Jay College of Criminal Justice, within the City University of New York (CUNY) system, is seeking an experienced strategic financial leader for the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration. Reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the President's cabinet, the Vice President for Finance and Administration serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the College.

Founded in 1964, John Jay College is the preeminent international leader in educating for justice, offering a rich liberal arts and professional curriculum that prepares its 15,000 students to serve the public interest as ethical leaders and engaged citizens. John Jay College has traditional criminal justice related programs and a growing portfolio of liberal arts and sciences programs. Students can choose from 26 majors, 40 minors and 11 master's degree program. The College also houses the CUNY Doctoral Programs in Criminal Justice and Forensic Psychology. Eleven centers and institutes enhance academic research and provide professional development and training at the College.

As a key senior administrator, the Vice President will lead the development and implementation of John Jay's integrated strategic financial plan. The Vice President provides vision, leadership, and administrative oversight for a portfolio that encompasses the fiscal management of all revenues and expenditures for the College. The Vice President must be an advocate for funding John Jay College. The Vice President for Finance and Administration is responsible for the college's $100 million operating budget. The Vice President provides regular financial management reports to the President and to the University. The Vice President is responsible for leadership and management of financial and administrative functions of the College, including Business Services, Accounting, Purchasing, Bursar, Public Safety, Human Resources, Information Technology, Capital Projects, Facilities, and Events Planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of ten years of responsible senior level fiscal management and a proven capacity to lead a wide variety of financing and revenue generating techniques. An advanced degree in a related field is preferred. Special interest in candidates holding an MBA, MPA, Masters of Finance or Masters of Accounting.

The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills; familiarity with New York City and New York State operational and capital budgeting practices; commitment to the teaching mission and related functions of the college; commitment to openness of information; application of high ethical practices and strong internal controls. Knowledge of operations, finance, and capital processes within the CUNY central administration and an understanding of funding and resource allocation processes within City and State government is an asset.
