CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Stella and Charles Guttman Community College (Guttman) is seeking an energetic, creative, and entrepreneurial educational or youth development professional for the position of College and Career Liaison. The successful candidate will serve as an intermediary between Guttman and the Inwood Health & Information Technologies Early College High School (Inwood Early College High), which opened its doors in September 2014 with an initial class of approximately 80 ninth graders. Through the partnership between the Inwood Early College High and Guttman, students will have an opportunity to earn college credits while earning a high school diploma; through the partnerships with Microsoft and New York-Presbyterian, the students will have access to work-based learning experiences and other opportunities to develop skill sets that are necessary for future employment as IT and HIT professionals.

Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost, the Early College and Career Liaison will support the school's mission of preparing young people for college and careers in the health information and information technology industries. In this role, s/he will work with the college faculty and staff to develop non-credit bearing programs and events to support the success of the students and enable them to earn their High School and Associate degrees within a six-year period. Working together with the college and school personnel, the Liaison seeks to maintain and develop collaborations that serve to better prepare Inwood Early College High students for college and careers while fostering mutual learning among the faculty, staff, and students at the partnering institutions. The Liaison is instrumental in facilitating students' progress and success by ensuring that appropriate collaborative support mechanisms are in place as administrative responsibilities are met.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Convening regular school planning meetings with college, school staff, and industry partners that focus primarily on the ongoing development of the scope and sequence of the school, the development of college and industry partnership activities, and curriculum development. Meetings can be led by both the principal and the Liaison.

* Coordinating with college faculty and staff to develop and implement programs that support early college goals (e.g. college course experiences for high school students, college speakers, trips to college, non-academic events connected to the college).

* Increasing awareness of early college partnership at the college in order to garner support and recruit faculty members to participate in activities such as the school planning committee, professional development, and collaborative curriculum development with school staff.

* Developing (in collaboration with the school principal), administering, and monitoring tax-levy and grant budgets for the school, including the mid-year report.

* Establishing systems for the logistical aspects of the school-college-industry partnership (e.g. payment of college professors, submission of purchase orders).

* Developing and implementing guidelines and standards related to the eligibility for enrollment in different types of college courses for high school students (based on partner college and specific college department guidelines).

* Coordinating all activities related to college course-taking by high school students.

* Developing and implementing professional development for relevant school personnel, college faculty, and industry mentors in consultation with leadership at the school.

* Coordinating mentoring programs at the school in partnership with industry liaison.

* Collaborating with the school on the monitoring and evaluation of program data as well as data from the city and state examinations to assess student progress and to make recommendations to improve student achievement in order to fulfill the college and career mission.

* Conducting parent outreach as it pertains to the college and career model and goals.

* Communicating with college and industry stakeholders in the development of the partnerships (e.g. newsletter, emails).

* Participating in School Leadership Team meetings at the school to help shape school policies and decisions.

The College and Career Liaison will report directly to the Provost of Guttman Community College, but will have an informal cross-report to the High School principal, with whom this position works closely, particularly in relation to budget, curricula, and student success.
