POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Post-Award Services, in the Grants Office, the Research Programs Specialist will be responsible for carrying out the following Post-Award responsibilities:

* Research and resolve multiple and often complex matters in sponsored programs administration; set priorities in a timely and efficient manner;

* Collaborate with unit management in identifying and meeting short and long term objectives

* Monitor and administer routine sponsored program activity to ensure that awarded funds are expended in a timely manner and in accordance with sponsor's terms and conditions

* Track sponsored program progress, including performance-based grant components, and coordinate plans to maintain timely progress and initiate budget modifications, when necessary

* Maintain audit-compliant records for sponsored programs; coordinate data collection for sponsored program audits; and liaise with internal audit at the Research Foundation

* Compile and analyze data for institutional reports; maintain various databases to ensure compliance

* Research, draft, and format institutional reports of considerable complexity using various techniques, software and formats

* Respond to Principal Investigator and Project Director requests and inquiries in a timely and thorough manner

* Facilitate staff training; recruit and supervise volunteers and interns

* Facilitate meetings and participate in professional development activities such as developing training materials and providing website updates.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* A minimum of four years related experience in grants and contracts administration

* Higher Ed experience strongly preferred

* Proficiency in major office computer and spreadsheet software related to field of work

* Ability to meet multiple, simultaneous deadlines in a fast-paced work environment

* Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

* Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, associates, and internal and external constituents

* Ability to explain complex concepts to professional college staff and officials

* Ability to conduct research and manipulate complex statistical information

* Knowledge of Federal requirements, guidelines and regulations for grants management at institutions of higher education

* Organizes and manages the requirements of existing funded projects and prepares preliminary materials for grant submission

* Collects information for, and assists in preparing reports, manuscripts for publication, newsletters, web sites, and other communications

* Plans, designs and coordinates interdisciplinary information and research planning sessions and professional development activities for faculty and staff

* May oversee one or more facilities, participating in budgeting, planning, and monitoring, and assuring availability of needed tools and equipment

* Serves as a consultant and resource to faculty and staff on planning and administering research projects

* Performs related activities as assigned.
