Kingsborough Community College of the City University of New York, located on the Manhattan Beach waterfront in Brooklyn, New York, seeks an experienced community college academic leader to serve as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As chief academic officer, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost is a member of the senior executive staff of the College and reports directly to the President. The Provost provides academic leadership and management for the instructional functions of the College. The Provost is responsible for all academic areas including policy, budgeting and planning, student learning and assessment, curriculum, staff and faculty development and personnel administration. S/he provides leadership for the activities of 14 academic departments offering 38 separate degree programs. The Provost provides innovative academic leadership and vision in instruction and program development, developmental education, transfer, and career and technical education.

ABOUT KINGSBOROUGH
Kingsborough serves a widely diverse population of approximately 14,000 (fall 2014 headcount) degree students and consistently ranks among the leading community colleges in the country in associate degrees awarded to minority students. More than half of Kingsborough's students were born outside the U.S., representing 142 different countries and 73 different native languages. Sixty percent are the first in their families to attend college. More than 45% come from households with annual incomes of under $20,000. Approximately 70% of Kingsborough's students are enrolled in a liberal arts or science degree program; 30% pursue degrees in more specialized, career-oriented programs such as business, communications, criminal justice, culinary arts, nursing and allied health careers, information technology, journalism, maritime technology, tourism and hospitality, and the visual arts. There are approximately 330 full-time and 650 part-time teaching faculty. The College also maintains one of the most comprehensive adult and continuing education programs in New York City.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree with a distinguished record (eight years or more) of teaching, scholarly achievement, and service (or a combination of academic and administrative experience) sufficient to qualify for appointment at the rank of a full professor in an academic department. S/he shall demonstrate evidence of:

* Dedication to the multidimensional community college mission;

* At least three years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of educational programs in a senior position at the community college level;

* Dynamic, innovative leadership including strategic planning, commitment to academic excellence, effective management of resources, and innovative academic program development in a complex academic institution;

* A commitment to innovation in teaching and learning;

* Proven leadership in the field of distance education;

* Effective interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to lead and to work as a member of a team;

* Recruitment, retention, and professional development of a distinguished faculty and academic staff;

* Leading and managing organizational change; and

* A commitment to diversity among faculty, staff and students.

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience (in a range from $168,724 to $184,665). The City University of New York provides comprehensive health and pension benefits.
