CUNY School of Law, a part of the City University of New York, a nationally acclaimed three-year law school, located in one of New York City's most diverse boroughs, invites applications for the position of Library Coordinator.

The duties of this position are shared between two library service areas: Technical Services and Circulation.

The work schedule for this position is Monday thru Thursday 1:30pm to 9:30pm and Saturday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. This may shift depending upon the law school's schedule, primarily to provide library services for the part-time program, and the staffing needs of Technical Services and Circulation.

TECHNICAL SERVICES:
Responsibilities include processing daily shipments of library materials. Transmitting orders to vendors via vendor databases and/or email, mail, fax and telephone. Processing receipt of materials and entering invoice information using the Aleph bibliographic library system. Preparing books to be cataloged with necessary local documentation indicating patrons to be notified and any special processing or other action required. Preparing materials for returns. Reviewing monthly claim list for appropriate action. Searching vendor and publisher title lists in the online catalog to determine whether the library already owns the books and other material. Additionally, inputting invoices in the Aleph system and the processing of requisitions, purchase orders and receipts .

CIRCULATION:
Responsibilities include being responsible for opening and closing activities. Assisting patrons with locating and charging out materials; assisting patrons in the use of library resources in all formats; updating Circulation records and statistics; shelving and filing of materials; operating and assisting patrons on the use of library equipment such as photocopiers, scanners and computers. Collection maintenance activities.

Other library duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

Additional Qualifications include;

* Knowledge of Aleph library systems and proficiency with various computer programs (Word; Excel; - Filemaker Pro) and experience with Internet search engines preferred.

* Familiarity with legal materials and electronic legal databases a plus.

* Experience with CUNYFirst a plus.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Flexibility in scheduling, reliability and punctuality a must.

* The ability to manage and control multiple files and a constant flow of vendor and order status information is essential.

* Coordinates with faculty, students, and librarians to ensure needed materials are accessible on a timely basis

* Provides general information in the use of library resources and services

* Keeps records of library transactions and generates reports on usage

* Exercises sound judgment in enforcing library policies and procedures

* May perform and/or supervise daily operations of a service unit such as the Reserve Desk

* May assist with digital resource management, acquisitions, and updating Library web pages

* Performs related duties as assigned.
