POSITION DETAILS

~~ THIS POSITION IS FOR CURRENT CUNY EMPLOYEES ONLY~~

Often referred to as "the jewel of the CUNY system", Queens College sits on 80 acres of land and is a place of contrast: an urban school in a suburban setting. It is a place where a large and diverse student body receives personalized attention. This formula has made us one of New York's premier educational institutions.

With a mission to prepare students to become leading citizens of an increasingly global society, we offer a rigorous education in the liberal arts and sciences under the guidance of a faculty dedicated to both teaching and research. Our liberal arts, science and pre-professional programs earn us high rankings in prestigious college guides such as The Princeton Review America's Best Value colleges. Our students graduate with the ability to think critically, address complex problems, explore various cultures, use modern technologies and information resources, and have won prominence in nearly every field.

The Assistant Provost for Academic Excellence and Experiential Education will report to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Assistant Provost will work with the Provost to develop institutional grant proposals to support student success, work with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to develop datasets to support student success efforts. The Assistant Provost will also provide supervision and direction to academically related programs in graduate and undergraduate studies. Responsibilities include the supervision of programs that provide graduate and undergraduate students with opportunities to integrate their course and field work experiences. The Assistant Provost will be responsible for developing collaborative projects for units that support study abroad, service learning, and undergraduate research programs that help broaden student perspectives in both local and global communities.
Among the programs reporting to the Assistant Provost are: Experiential Education and the CUNY Service Corps programs, the New Professionals Program, Pre-Med and Pre-Law Mentoring Programs, the Entrepreneurship Center, the Center for Ethnic, Racial and Religious Understanding (CERRU), Tech Talent Pipeline Internship Program, and the World of Work Program. The Assistant Provost will also be responsible for supervision of the Center for Teaching and Learning, which includes the integration of both hybrid and online courses. This position facilitates communication and coordination among the Center for Teaching and Learning’s programs to foster excellence in teaching practices, and in assessment of learning outcomes.
