POSITION DETAILS
The Revenue Analyst will work closely with the College Business Offices; College Bursars; Office of the University Controller Cash Management Department and the University Budget Office. The primary function of the Revenue Analyst is to analyze Bursar and Continuing Education accounts; record monthly and year-end closing entries; maintain the University’s Tax-Offset database; prepare various related data requested by the external auditor, and analyze/reconcile cash transactions initiated from Central Office Tuition and Fee cash accounts. This position reports to the Manager of University Revenue.
Other duties include but will not be limited to the following:
* Participate in the period end closing activities including accounts receivable and revenue account analysis and reconciliations
* Gather and prepare materials for audit and external compliance activities; assist in preparing audit schedules for external and internal auditors and provide support to auditor information requests
* Propose accounting policies and best practices related to revenue recognition to management and work closely with auditors on adopted policies and best practice procedures
* Analyze revenue information to ensure completeness and accuracy of revenue records; reconcile to information from operations, and follow up on discrepancies; identify reasons for revenue month-to-month variances and out of period adjustments; communicate with partners and facilitate issue resolution
* Analyze revenue statements and financial records and related paperwork
* Collaborate with Treasury, Financial Aid, Information Systems Team and other staff regarding revenue systems evaluations and improvements
* Prepare, reconcile and review in depth monthly fluctuation analysis for revenue accounts, deferred revenue accounts, and related allowance accounts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
* Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred; CPA license preferred
* Four years' of revenue analysis experience in a higher education institution and/or public organization preferred
* Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board)
* Detail oriented and accurate with strong numerical analysis, evaluation, and research skills and ability to work with integrity and careful judgment
* Strong writing/verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish plans, manage a large workload and multiple assignments with conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive and customer responsive office
* Experience with PeopleSoft ERP effort, systems, and re-engineering/re-organizing business processes
* Work effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with diverse stakeholders, constituents, and clients of various levels
* Proficiency using computers and office software programs plus online general ledger and financial systems, with advanced skill using Microsoft Excel and performing extensive pivot table analysis.
