The College of Staten Island (CSI) is one of 11 senior colleges of The City University of New York and the only public college on Staten Island. CSI offers over 80 undergraduate programs and an array of graduate programs including doctoral programs both on-site and in participation with the CUNY Graduate Center. The College enrolls approximately 14,000 students and employs over 2,000 faculty and staff. Located on a 204-acre park-like campus that is minutes away from the cultural treasures of Manhattan, the CSI campus is the largest collegiate site in NYC. Fourteen neo-Georgian-style buildings house 300 classrooms, laboratories, instructional spaces, and study lounges, as well as department, faculty, and program offices. CSI boasts an advanced, networked infrastructure and is developing a high performance computing center that will support technology-based research, teaching, and learning throughout CUNY.

The successful candidate will assist with all activities of the Office of the Registrar to include registration, maintenance of student records and related functions. This position is the second in command within the office of the Registrar. The Deputy will be responsible for general management and supervision of office staff. He/She will represent the Director of Registrar and make decisions on behalf of the office in his absence. Specific tasks include:

* Assists the Registrar Director with daily operations of the Office, including supervision of office staff, ensuring efficient and effective workflow; participating in various personnel functions as assigned, including hiring, performance evaluations.

* Oversees enrollment verification and grade rosters, including preparation, distribution, submission/collection, and recordation (resolving any errors), ensuring general compliance.

* Provides oversight and integrity of all student records including historical records, registration and graduation. Provides auditors with appropriate documentation as requested.

* Analyzes and resolves student disputes as they relate to student records and registration matters, including tuition and fee charges..

* Works closely with the Director in collection dissemination of data, provides academic and student data for institutional research, prepares and publishes official enrollment statistics and other related activities.

* Oversees the transmission of data to the National Clearing House ensuring timely submission and compliance.

* Provides training and guidance for FERPA and CUNYfirst training to new hires. Oversees security approval requests for CUNYfirst.

* Responsible for all web updates for the Registrar’s office.

* Serves on various committees as appropriate.

* Performs related duties as assigned by the Registrar Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications include, but not required:

* CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft) experience highly desired

* Proven record of successful supervisory experience in a people oriented environment.

* Understanding FERPA and FOIA and other applicable laws and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

* Ability to work successfully with diverse populations.

* Ability to collaborate effectively with college departments.

* Good time management skills and ability to prioritize.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Manages College registration operations and related activities.

* Oversees daily office operations; supervises the maintenance of accurate and secure student records; determines residency eligibility; enforces all retention and release policies regarding the confidentiality of student data

* Improves and maintains department performance regarding information processing through effective system management and staff development

* Reports on all matters pertaining to academic standards, academic petitions, student progress, and maintenance of enrollment eligibility

* Assists with developing strategic plan, evaluating outcomes and ensuring compliance with legal requirements

* Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

* Provides auditors with appropriate documentation as requested

* May administer Registrar activities related to Return of Title lV funding

* May manage professional and/or clerical staff

* Performs related duties as assigned.
