FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Stella and Charles Guttman Community College seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Business. This appointment will begin in fall 2017. General responsibilities of all full-time Guttman faculty include teaching courses in the first year experience as part of an instructional team, as well as teaching courses in the majors. For this position, the successful candidate will teach courses in the major such as introductory Business and Business Law, as well as first-year courses such as Statistics and Quantitative Reasoning.

As the newest community college in the CUNY system, Guttman’s mission emphasizes student success as manifest in learning and degree completion. Our students primarily take general education and lower division courses for university transfer. The instructional model combines high impact educational practices, including learning communities, peer mentoring, experiential learning, ePortfolio, and full-time first year attendance. Academic technology is particularly emphasized in the delivery and assessment of student learning and advising. Faculty collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment as part of a first year instructional team, and in a limited number of Programs of Study, rather than traditional academic departments. In addition to teaching, appropriate service is an important component of expected faculty effort.

The College strives to create and to maintain an inclusive, accepting learning environment. Guttman has a diverse student body that represents all five boroughs of New York City, with a majority of our students enrolling directly out of high school. Our students, faculty, and staff represent the full spectrum of diversity. Comfort with and experience in working with a variety of learning styles, physical and mental abilities, and socio-economic groups, as well as familiarity with pedagogical approaches that serve diverse populations, is invited. Guttman Community College is a federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution. Please visit our website for the latest information on Guttman’s enrollment and student data to learn more about our growing institution:
