The official American Airlines app has received a rather nifty update on Google Play, bringing along with it a much needed completely redesigned user interface, the automatic assigning of seats and a multitude of bug fixes and stability improvements.

It’s fairly safe to say that the old American Airlines app (V3.0) had a pretty dreadful UI, and to make things even worse it was incredibly slow when loading boarding passes or browsing through travel itineraries.

However, these issues are now all a thing of the past. The V4.0 update incorporates a fresh, new interface which really is a pleasure to use. It’s very responsive, and scrolling through different screens is extremely fluid and snappy.

Thanks to the implementation of a traditional Android-style Hamburger menu, navigating around the app is instantly much easier. Users can simply swipe in from the left of the screen, which in turn gives them the option to select a category such as Boarding Passes, Account Details and Flight Bookings.
