If any mothers out there are like me, then right about now you have the end-of-the-school-year-beginning-of-summer-stressed-out-blues! Doesn’t it seem like schools fill almost everyday of May with school functions–carnivals, book fairs, award ceremonies, silent auctions, Moms & Muffins, prom, graduation, luncheons, teacher appreciation week, concerts, plays, field day, olympic day, etc.? It’s exhausting. The month of May should be a stress-free month where all moms calmly start preparing for the long summer ahead with their children. Unfortunately, this is not what happens. I seem to always start off summer break frazzled and grumpy. No fun!
To counteract this end-of-the-school-year-beginning-of-summer-stressed-out-blues, we need a Mom’s Day Out where we can forget about the stresses of being a mother and SHOP, PAMPER and TREAT ourselves into a calm, happy place. I have the perfect place for us to go–The Just For Her Event–held June 12-14 at the Overland Park Convention Center.
Grab your friends so you can do your annual summer shopping spree or get pampered with massages, facials and more! The Just For Her Event has a little something for everyone. This year they are introducing the “Kansas City Local Marketplace,” which will feature handcrafted vendors selling products made from scratch or made in Kansas City.
I also heard there will be plenty of cool things to buy dad for Father’s Day!
For the full experience, you and your friends should buy a $20 VIP Party ticket (Friday, 6/12 only, limited qty.), which includes access to event all days, access to VIP Party Area Friday Night 5-9pm, (1) drink ticket, appetizers from local restaurants, swag bag and music from local band Ragged Heirs. For general admission tickets, you can buy online for $5 {HERE} or at the door for $8.

DIY Class – Wine Down & Paint (6/12 6pm)
Make and take a KC-inspried painted wine glass with Wine Down & Paint. A great activity for a group of friends Friday night!
DIY Class – Junque Drawer jewelry making (6/12 7:3pm)
Design your own charming bracelet or necklace creation! Combine beaded baubles, charms, buttons and bits to create a junque necklace or bracelet for yourself or as a one of a kind gift. Junque Drawer brings a plethora of fabulous pieces for you to choose from!
DIY Class – Divine Wine Designs (6/13 11:30am)
Come join Divine Wine Designs to create your own one-of-a-kind, wire-beaded wine glass! Perfect for a gift or just to keep for yourself!
DIY Class – Wood + Salt (6/13 1:30)
Meet the creators of Wood + Salt for a Salt Tasting Workshop to try different Salts from around the world such as a Fleur de Sel, Alae Hawaiian, and traditional Japanese Salt along with examples of how to enhance these such as our Forest Salt or Rosemary Smoked Salt. Each sample with be accompanied with tasting notes, pairing suggestions, and some historical facts.
DIY Class – Genevieve’s (6/13 3:30)
Create a unique gift for a favorite Dad for Father’s Day. Guests will create a one-of-a-kind field journal personalized for a special Dad in your life. Create a Field Note Journal with genuine leather cover, Field Notes pencil, personalized stamped tag and decorated gift bag – the perfect gift for the man in your life on Father’s Day! In the class we’ll walk you through the steps to construct your leather cover, personalize your metal tag, make a folder insert and decorate your gift bag.
DIY Class – Wine Down & Paint (6/13 5pm)
Create your own personal Royals fan beer mug for the special guy in your life (the perfect Father’s Day gift).
DIY Class – Grey Pine Goods (6/14 12:30)
Join Katie Roby of Grey Pine Goods to learn the fundamentals of hand-embroidery. Together we will learn basic embroidery techniques and a variety of hand stitches – all on a unique, Kansas City themed hoop.
DIY Class – Tammy Smith Designs (6/14 2:30)
Tammy Smith will be teaching DIY guests how to make a hanging wire ornament that says “Dad.” Tools and materials will be provided. Great for Father’s Day gifts!
