Renz P. Aguhob, CPA, chairman of Accounting Technology Department, Professor Ferdinand A. Rodriguez, CPA a part-time professor, Professor Eleno O. Buray Jr., CPA a part-time professor in the College of Business Administration of Capitol University attended the annual gathering of CPAs in four different sectors namely in academe, public practice, government and commerce & industry. This year’s PICPA Annual National Convention was held at Puerto Princesa, Palawan last November 25-28, 2015 attended by almost 4,000 delegates from all over the country with the theme “Sharing Success Beyond Borders”.
To complement this year’s theme, the 70th PICPA ANC engaged members of accounting profession with technical sessions that will enhance their competencies and share successes beyond varying borders. In the Education Forum, matters taken up were, (a) the proposed new Policies, Standards and Guidelines of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Internal Auditing, Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information in exchange of the Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology (BSAcT), (b) the Board of Accountancy (BOA) Resolution changing the subjects of CPA Licensure Exam from seven (7) subject to six (6) subjects, (c) the Board of Accountancy School Inspection, (d) Accreditation for Accounting Teachers.
The BSA is still the degree required to take the CPA Licensure Exam granted by Professional Regulations Commission (PRC). The other programs mentioned above like BSIA will lead to Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), the BSMA will lead to Certificate in Management Accounting (CMA) and the BSAIS will lead to Certificate of Information Systems Analyst (CISA). These certifications are offered by accredited organizations.
The new six (6) subjects in the CPA Licensure Exam effective May 2016 will be (a) Financial Accounting and Reporting, (b) Advanced Financial Accounting & Reporting, (c) Auditing, (d) Management Advisory Services (e) Taxation (f) Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions.
