The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) seeks an expert in creation, development, and implementation of strategic marketing and communication plans to serve as the Associate Director for Marketing and Communications. This position reports to the Director of Recruitment in the Office of Vice Provost for Academic and Enrollment Services.

The Associate Director for Marketing and Communications assists in the review and strategic development of all marketing and communication activities to ensure alignment with campus enrollment goals.  Additionally, the Associate Director is expected to: manage and review daily work of professional in-house graphic designer; develop and supervise student employees in graphic design, electronic, digital and social media; research higher education marketing trends to propose new strategies to market to prospective students, their parents, high school guidance counselors, and other prospective student influencers; be responsible for the ongoing management of targeted marketing and communication projects including print materials, electronic communications, digital and social media platforms, and developing vendor and project developer relationships with designers and printers; write and edit copy for marketing communications successfully relaying the university identity, mission, and scope to a wide variety of audiences; monitor and provide corrective action if necessary of messages delivered through communication and marketing projects/channels; facilitate the execution of project goals, tasks and deadlines; assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects or functional areas; develop methods to monitor project progress; work with internal and external units to coordinate large mailings and special projects; ensure unit branding and marketing align with the campus identity standards while addressing the expectations of target audience, enhancing the likelihood that prospective students will apply and enroll at the University of Illinois at Chicago; work with internal and external campus units to produce updated and appealing information about their programs and services; serve on a communications committee that includes a cross section of Academic and Enrollment Services staff directly involved in the execution of admissions and recruitment marketing and communication efforts; communicate effectively using storytelling to engage prospective undergraduate students, of widely diverse backgrounds, and their primary influencers (parents, teachers and counselors); research and develop promotional materials, and their appropriate delivery channels, for targeted segmented audiences; plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met; perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Job Knowledge & Skills, Education, Experience

Bachelor’s degree required.

Three years’ experience in project management, communications, marketing, or content development in public relations, marketing, advertising or a related field is required. Experience in enrollment management, university admissions, higher education administration or other related work experiences preferred.

Exceptional skills with the Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative suite preferred.

Supervision of creative staff, including full time, part time student employees and volunteers preferred.

Knowledge of student development issues, higher education, enrollment management, admissions strategies, experience with diverse student populations and admissions policies preferred.

Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
