Central Excise Day is commemorated every year all across the India on 24th of February to encourage the employees of excise department to carry out the central excise duty all over the India in better way in order to prevent the corruption in goods manufacturing business as well as implement other rules to carry out best possible excise services.

Central excise has become the vital source of the financial development of the country for the better socio-economic development in India. In the back years, the financial revenue of the country has become double through the better service delivery standards of the central excise departments.

App launched to provide GST updates by CBEC :



The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) on Thursday launched a mobile app for GST to provide updates to taxpayers on the regime which is to be rolled out from July 1. The CBEC GST app will help taxpayers in migration to GST, provide reading material on GST, and also put draft laws and rules, among others.

J&K and Centre planned to invest ₹2,400 crore to boost state's tourism :

The Centre along with the Jammu and Kashmir government will invest ₹2,400 crore in the next five years to boost tourism in the state, J&K Tourism Secretary Farooq Shah said on Wednesday. Shah added, "private sector is investing... Le Meridian, The Sheraton Group and ITC is making hotels". Meanwhile, he called Kashmir "our own Switzerland" and said it was safe.

Dance festival 'Brahan Natyanjali' starts today at Thanjavur temple :

The week-long Brahan Natyanjali, a dance obeisance to Lord Bragadeesvarar, began today on Mahashivarathri at the Big Temple in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Over 600 artistes from around the world are taking part in the festival, which is being organised by the Brahan Natyanjali Foundation. Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Mohiniyattam and Kuchipudi are being performed during Brahan Natyanjali.

Private school of Haryana made must to install solar plants :

The Haryana government has made it mandatory for all private schools to install solar systems. A special grant of ₹20,000 per kilowatt will also be given to the schools for installing solar power plants, an official spokesperson informed. Further, the electricity generated from these solar power plants during the summer vacations would be added to the grid, the official added.

CBSE insists school buses to have GPS, CCTV & guard facility :

Central Board of School Education (CBSE) has directed all of it's afiliated schools to depute guards on school buses and fit the vehicles with CCTV cameras, GPS systems, sirens and grilles on windows. School authorities will also have to provide one mobile phone in each bus and ensure that the buses are not permitted to overtake any four-wheeler while carrying children.

The CBSE issued the new comprehensive guidelines on safety of school children yesterday. The board stated that the management and the head of the school will be held responsible for any lapse which could lead to disaffiliation.

Pradeep Refinery project of IOCL got concession on interest by Odisha Govt :

The Odisha government has withdrawn tax concession in the form of interest-free loans to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd's 15 million tonne Paradeep Refinery project. Informing this in the State Assembly yesterday, Finance minister Pradeep Kumar Amat said there was no logic behind allowing a profit making company to enjoy financial benefits and extension of financial benefit to the plant would have a negative impact on state's economy.

He informed as per the original MoU in 2004, the project should have been completed by 2009-10. But the project was delayed by six years. Besides, the IOCL unilaterally enhanced the production capacity from nine million tonnes to 15 million tonne per year.

Bilateral talks held between Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina and India Foreign Sec :

India's Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar called on the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka last evening and discussed recent developments in Indo-Bangla relations and the region. During the talks, Mr. Jaishankar raised the issue of SAARC and drew her attention to its current deadlock on which the premier said we should not let it die.

Ms Hasina told Jaishankar, that the two neighbours so far have settled different outstanding issues like Land Boundary and enclave problems and they could solve any problem through discussion if they have good intention.

9th edition of BRICS Summit to be take place in China's Xiamen city :

The ninth BRICS Summit will be held in China's Xiamen city from September 3 to 5, State Councilor Yang Jiechi said this today. While addressing the First Sherpa Meeting of the summit in Nanjing, he said the theme of this year's event is 'BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future'.

President Xi Jinping hopes to work with other BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) leaders to ensure the meeting is a success, Yang was quoted as saying by the state-run Xinhua news agency.

Merger of SBI associate banks with SBI to be kick start from April 1:

In the largest consolidation exercise in the banking history of India, all the five associate banks will merge with State Bank of India, SBI, from the first of April. The bank said in a regulatory filing that the assets of State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Hyderabad will be transfered to SBI on that date.

With the merger of all the five associates, SBI is expected to become a lender of global proportions with an asset base of 37 lakh crore rupees, 22,500 branches and 58,000 ATMs. It will have over 50 crore customers.

TCS ranked world's third most valuable brand in IT services :

Indian IT services major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been ranked the world's third most valuable brand in IT services industry by brand valuation firm Brand Finance. The brand value of TCS is estimated at $9,081 million. IBM topped the brand value list, followed by Accenture. Indian IT services companies Infosys and HCL are also ranked among the top ten.
