PM to inaugurate international terminal at Harni airport in Vadodara
Prime Minister NarendraModi will inaugurate the state of art international terminal at Harni airport in Vadodara short while from now. During his one day visit to Gujarat, Prime Minister will also attend a program in Vadodara to distribute artificial limbs and other equipment to more than 8 thousands 'Divyangs' the people with disabilities.
AIR correspondent reports that the work of international terminal of Harni airport in Vadodara has been completed at the cost of 160 crore rupees. The new terminal spread over18 thousand square meters has 18 check in counters with a capacity to handle 700 passengers per hours.
Mahesh Sharma chairs first meeting of reconstituted CABC
Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma chaired the first meeting of the Reconstituted Central Advisory Board on Culture (CABC) in New Delhi yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed the need to evolve a participative process of decision making in the field of Culture.
Mr Sharma also invited suggestions from the eminent members on it. An official release said, the members of the CABC were requested to highlight priority areas in the fields of art, music, dance and literature.
Some of the members were of the view that the local cultures and artists at the village and district level need to be galvanized so as to bring about a true cultural revival. The next CABC meeting has been scheduled for 21st November, 2016 at Varanasi wherein these priority areas highlighted by the artists would be taken forward
Fifth Tawang festival starts at Tawang town, Arunachal Pradesh
In Arunachal Pradesh, the fifth Tawang festival started at historic Tawang town yesterday. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal declared the three day festival open in presence of the US Ambassador to India Richard Verma. Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu, chief patron of the Tawang festival, said that Assam and Arunachal has maintained deep cultural ties from ages.
US Ambassador to India Richard Verma thanked the people of Arunachal and especially Tawang for inviting him, on behalf of American people and US President. He said the US - India relation is all time high and the country is looking towards India to work together in the field of tourism and technology.
The festival began with Sebang, a religious procession carried out by monks from Tawang monastery to the festival ground. 18 exhibition stalls were set up, amongst which Monpa stall from Mukto and Lumla demonstrated the process of handmade paper.
Rajeev Pratap Rudy inaugurates Kaushal Mahotasava in Varanasi
Union Skill development and Entrepreneurship Minister Rajeev Pratap Rudy inaugurated ‘Kaushal Mahotasava' in Varanasi. On this occasion Minister Rudy also flagged off placement drive for youths skilled under skill India programme. Around thirty prominent companies took part in the recruitment drive.
Bihar to start new public feedback programme
Having discontinued "JanataDarbar", Bihar government is set to introduce "LokSamvad" programme in an effort to get public feedback and suggestions. The Bihar Cabinet gave its approval to the programme which is scheduled to start from December. "LokSamvad would come in a different format, under which people can make suggestions on speedy implementation of welfare programmes," officials said.
18th Mumbai Film Festival begins
The 18th MAMI (Mumbai Acadamy of the Moving Image) Film Festival began on Thursday at the Opera House in Mumbai. The week-long festival will showcase 175 films, including KonkonaSen Sharma’s directorial debut 'A Death in the Gunj'. Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and GeneliaDeshmukh were some of the actors who attended the launch.
Indian Foreign Secretary Jaishankar visits Sri Lanka
Foreign Secretary S. Jaishanker is visiting Sri Lanka from today to further economic cooperation and discuss other bilateral issues. Mr. Jaishankar is leading a high-level business delegation and several meetings are scheduled during his three-day visit to explore opportunities in trade and investment sector.
During his stay, he will also meet his Sri Lankan counterpart and call on Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Samarweera. The discussions will pursue various initiatives and ideas that were discussed during the recent visits to India by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
It includes the issue of fishermen, for which ministerial -level meeting is scheduled for next month in New Delhi. Both countries are also currently discussing Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) in a bid to expand trade in services and investment sector.
Rajnath Singh to visit Bahrain for 3 days from tomorrow
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will leave for Bahrain tomorrow on a 3-day visit. During the visit, Mr Singh will hold bilateral meeting with the Interior Minister of Bahrain and interact with prominent members of the Indian community. The Indian delegation also includes senior officers of the Home Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs.

NABARD sanctions 19,702 cr loans for 50 irrigation projects
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) on Friday said it has sanctioned loans worth 19,702 crore to the National Water Development Agency for 50 irrigation projects. This would help in creating an additional irrigation potential of 39.14 lakh hectares under these projects in 11 states, it said in a statement.
The Reserve Bank of India Launched Rs2,000 notes
Banknotes of the denomination of Rs.2,000 will be in circulation.The Reserve Bank of India has very nearly completed preparations for introducing this new high-value currency.
The notes have already been printed and their dispatch from the currency printing press in Mysuru has commenced.
HDFC Raises Rs 500 cr via Masala Bonds
HDFC has raised Rs 500 crore through rupee-denominated bonds from overseas investors. The corporation has completed the fourth issue of rupee-denominated bonds to overseas investors. HDFC said it has raised a total of Rs 5,000 cr through issuance. The rupee-denominated bonds or masala bonds are instruments through which Indian entities can raise funds by accessing overseas capital markets.
Bank Penalization Framework Issued
The RBI has released guidelines for penalizing payments systems & banks under the Payments and Settlements Systems Act, 2007.
According to the framework issued payments systems & banks can be told to fork out penalties between Rs5 lakh & Rs1 cr.Under the Act,no person can operate a payment system without RBI authorization. Only stock exchanges are exempt from obtaining such authorization.

TRAI suggests Rs 3,000-crore fine on incumbents
In a setback to incumbent mobile operators, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has proposed a penalty of about Rs 3,050 crore on three telcos — BhartiAirtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular for failing to provide sufficient interconnect points to Reliance Jio which has led to massive call failures.

India, World Bank sign $650 Million agreement for Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor
India on 21 October 2016 signed a 650-million US dollar loan agreement with the World Bank for the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor-III (EDFC-III) Project. The project will benefit industries of Northern and Eastern India, which rely on railway network for transportation of material inputs and exports.
These industries also depend on railway network for transportation for the distribution of bulk processed and semi-processed commodities and consumer goods. Railway passengers will also be benefitted through decongestion of the existing passenger lines.
The project is being developed by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. (DFCCIL). It would also help in creating jobs in the northern and eastern regions of the country.

The World Free Zones Orgànisation (World FZO) has appointed P. S. Raman, Joint Development Commissioner (Retd), Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone, Special Economic Zone, Mumbai, as its Regional Representative for SAARC countries comprising Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The World FZO is an international multilateral organisation registered in Geneva and headquartered in Dubai, committed to supporting management and continuous development of Free Zones.
UN appoints Wonder Woman as Honorary Ambassador
The United Nations on Friday appointed comic book character Wonder Woman as its new Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls. The event marked the launch of a social media campaign to promote gender equality and the 75th anniversary of the comic book character. However, Wonder Woman's appointment was criticised by some UN staff members.
Gavaskar to get Lifetime Achievement award from SJAM
The Sports Journalists' Association of Mumbai will present a Lifetime Achievement award to former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, as part of its golden jubilee celebrations. The award will be presented to the former India captain on December 11, during the fourth Test match between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium. Gavaskar has recently completed 50 years in Indian cricket.
Parineeti Chopra won a National Award for 'Ishaqzaade'
Actress Parineeti Chopra, who turned 28 today, won a Special Mention for her 2012 film 'Ishaqzaade' at the 60th National Film Awards. The film marked her first appearance in a lead role. Chopra made her debut with a supporting role in the 2011 film 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl', for which she won several awards including the Filmfare and IIFA awards.

India's 1st lunar mission Chandrayaan-1 was launched in 2008
India's first ever mission to moon 'Chandrayaan-1' was launched successfully from Sriharikota on October 22, 2008. With a lift-off mass of 1,380 kg, the spacecraft was missioned to map a three-dimensional atlas of the moon and the surface's chemical and mineral composition. The mission was concluded when communication with the spacecraft was lost on August 29, 2009.

Navi Mumbai stadium confirmed as U-17 FIFA WC venue
Football's governing body FIFA on Thursday confirmed Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium as the second venue for the 2017 U-17 World Cup, to be held in India. A 23-member delegation, comprising experts from FIFA and the Local Organising Committee, visited the stadium before the announcement. Notably, Kochi was the first Indian city to be declared as one of the venues.
Eminent Assamese journalist TilakHazarika passes away
Eminent journalist and writer of Assam TilakHazarika passed away last night in Guwahati. He was 95. Born in 1921 at Nagaon ,Hazarika worked in several newspapers. Mr.Hazarika also wrote several books in Assamese.
His last rites were conducted at Navagraha crematorium in Guwahati. The Chief Minister, the Assembly Speaker besides others condoled the demise of Tilak Hazarika.
