The official notification of the RBI Grade B Officer Exam has been already out. As per the notification, the pattern of the Phase I Exam remains same compared to last year but there has been slightly changes done in Phase II exam.

While preparing for RBI Grade B Exam, you all must know the important areas to focus to clear the exam. So,in this article we are providing you a detailed syllabus of the exam, which will give you clear idea about the topics & types of questions which can be asked in the examination.

New Pattern of Phase II Exam –

It has been decided by the Reserve Bank of India that for the captioned recruitment, from Batch Year-2016, in Phase-II online examination the Paper-III will consist of only one subject i.e. ‘Finance and Management’ (The other optional subjects viz. ‘Economics’ and ‘Statistics’ have been withdrawn) . All other criteria and scheme of selection remain the same.

Note:Earlier there was optional Paper in Paper-III which had options of subjects, viz., ‘Finance & Management’ or ‘Economics’ or ‘Statistics’.

Number of Vacancies – This year there are total 163 vacancies

1. For General – 77

2. For OBC – 52

3. For SC – 26

4. For ST – 8

Age – Age of the candidate must be between 21 to 30 years. For candidates possessing M.Phil and Ph.D., upper age limit is 31 and 33 years respectively.

Experience– For candidates with experience as an officer in any Commercial Bank/Financial Institution in Public Sector, upper age limit is relaxed as well. Their upper age limit must not exceed 33 years including experience.

Educational Qualification – For General & OBC candidates – A minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) or an equivalent grade in Bachelor’s degree as well as in 12th and 10th standard examinations.

Now, let us check the Pattern of RBI Grade B Officer Exam –

Process of Selection – The overall selection will be based on following three phases –

1. Phase-I Online Examination: Objective Type – The Paper for 200 Marks consists of 4 sections: (i) General Awareness (ii) English Language (iii) Quantitative Aptitude and (iv) Reasoning, with composite time of 120 minutes.

2. Phase-II Online Examination: Descriptive Test – Phase-II examinations will consist of three papers in MCQ pattern (except Paper-I) – viz



3. Interview: 50 marks: The interview will continue in its existing format.

A Detailed Syllabus of RBI Grade B Exam

I. General Awareness (Total 80 Qs)

Easy to Moderate

It is one of the scoring section of the exam. Total 80 questions will be asked from this section. The questions can be asked from different topics which are mentioned below-

(i) Banking & Financial + Economic News– Banking Terminology, Recent RBI News like – Monetary policies, Important guidelines, Financial & Economics News, Economics terms, etc.

(ii) Current Affairs – National + International News, Sports News, Awards, Summits & Conferences, Schemes, Agreement & Deals, etc.

(iii) Static GK – Parks, Dam, Thermal Power Plants, Mountains, Temples, Stadiums, Airports, etc.

II. English Language (Total 30 Qs)

Moderate

The level of this section will be moderate. The questions in this section can be asked from different topics which are mentioned below-

(i) Reading Comprehension – 10 Questions (Lengthy) will based on Economy

(ii) Cloze Test  – 10 Questions (Moderate)

(iii) Parajumbles (7 statements)– 5 Questions (Moderate)

(iv) Spotting Error – 5 Questions  (Moderate)

III. Quantitative Aptitude (Total 30 Qs)

Tough

The level of this section will be moderate to tough . The questions in this section can be asked from different topics which are mentioned below

(i)  Number Series – (Moderate to Tough)

(ii)  Data Interpretation – includes – Missing DI, Pie Chart , Caselet DI , Mix DI – (Tough)

(iii) Quadratic Equation – (Moderate to Tough)

(iv)  Miscellaneous Questions –  (Tough)

Miscellaneous Questions consist of questions from different topics such as – Profit loss, Average, SI & CI, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Time, Speed & Distance, Boats & Streams, etc.

IV. Reasoning (Total 60 Qs)

(i) Syllogism  (Moderate)

(ii) Seating Arrangement (Circular) (Inward Outward) Blood Relation based – (Tough)

(iii) Linear Arrangement – (Moderate)

(iv) Puzzle – (Tough)
