Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police is still seeking information from the publci about a runaway teen that hasn’t been seen since Monday, October 20th.
Dylon Janke of Jamestown left his home Monday morning and has not returned. Reports have stated that he has been spotted in Jamestown numerous times, but his location is still unknown.
If you have any information on his whereabouts, you’re asked to call the Jamestown Law Enforcement Center at 701-252-1000.
On Sunday afternoon, the ND Lost & Missing Facebook page <https://www.facebook.com/NDMissing>posted the following message:
“Please keep sharing this! He hasn’t been located yet. He may be any place in ND and on the run!”

Fargo (CSi) A high speed motorcycle chase that started in West Fargo, went through Valley City, and ended in Jamestown Sunday evening, led to a man arrested and facing several charges.
Valley News Live reports that police tried to pullover Joshua Overbo in West Fargo just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Overbo fled west on I-94.
Authorities chased him to Valley City, where the North Dakota Highway Patrol took over. Troopers eventually stopped and arrested Overbo East of Jamestown.
Overbo is being held in the Cass County Jail and is facing charges of Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, Fictitious Plates, Driving Under Suspension, and multiple felony Warrants.
Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police report, a single vehicle accident Thursdsay about 10-p.m., at S&R Truck Plaza in Jamestown caused over $5,000 in damage to a gas pump.
55-year old Patrick Morgan, of Janesville, Minnesota, was hauling hay bales on a flatbed trailer behind a 1987 International truck.
Police say Morgan was filling at a diesel pump, when he drove away, the bales on the passenger side of the trailer struck the pump.
No inuries reported.
Morgan was given a written warning for care required.
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Engineer’s Office informs residents, that starting today, the alley in the 800 Block between 2nd and 3rd Ave SE, will be under construction, due to alley paving. The work is expected to last approximately one week, depending on weather.
Access to the alley will be limited during this time.
Extreme caution should be used when entering road construction areas. The public should consider alternate routes if possible.
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Tourism Grant/Executive Advisory Board met Friday at the CSi Technology Center, at Historic Franklin School.
The Jamestown Civic Center, appeared concerning the new basketball court floor.
The total cost of the new floor, is $96,000 and is paid by the City of Jamestown. The Civic Center was requesting $10,000 in the form of a grant, for a tourism corner advertising spot on the floor.
The advisory board did not act on the grant, request, as the consensus was that the request should be acted upon at another time as an advertising expense.
Civic Center, Manager Pam Fosse presented options and costs for floor space, which is being distributed to businesses, including a center court naming rights availability.
In other business, the board approved two requests by the Jamestown Rural Fire Department in connection with an ice fishing derby planned for February 6,7,8, 2015.
Representative Travis Lemieux said, the request of $3,000 is to bring in professional angler, Tom Neustrom, to speak at the Sport and Recreation Show in Jamestown, before the fishing tournament takes place.
The board approved a lesser amount, of $1,700, as moved by Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund.
Another request by the Rural Fire Department for $4,000 in advertising for the tournament was approved. The total cost of thederby is estimated at $75,000 with additional funds stemming from the sale of raffle tickets, and sponsorships.
He added that 4,100 tickets have been printed for the fishing tournament, which includes an entry to prize drawings. He noted an increase in attendance each year.
The Frontier Village Association, President, Charley Tanata requested $2,000 for a drainage project at the west end of the Village, which was approved, pending written permission from the City of Jamestown.
Drainage issues have been causing foundation erosion around Mary’s House and the Eldridge Building (Town Hall.)
The advisory board approved the Jamestown Downtown Association, request for advertising for the 2014 Holiday Dazzle on Main Parade, of $1,000.
Ambassador Charlie Kourajian, and JDA President Nancy Miller indicated that the additional advertising dollars will be used to draw more people from a 60 mile radius of Jamestown to attend the parade, Christmas tree lighting, after the parade this year, and the after parade party, as a package event. It’s possible that some of the out of town guest would spend dollars in Jamestown on such items as lodging and meals etc.
Searle Swedlund’s report to the board included the Frontier Village, this past summer seeing an increase in the stage coach rides, up 40-percent from 2013, at 1,193 rides.
He also pointed out the 2015 budget has been approved by the City of Jamestown.
Valley City (CSi) The Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has taken a formal position in support of the proposed Valley City Health, Wellness and Physical Education Center.
The statement says, “As a board, we believe investments must be made to ensure that we are a vibrant, growing community. The Wellness Center is expected to offer amenities that will benefit the community and our visitors. It is a significant and progressive investment important to the quality of life in Valley City, including attracting new residents and businesses, and growing existing businesses.”
A public meeting is scheduled on Monday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at the Hi-Liner Activity Center (460 Central Avenue North) to present additional information about the Wellness Center.

Bismarck (CSi) The North Dakota Department of Human Services’ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) recently honored several employees for their work assisting North Dakotans with disabilities to obtain employment.
Debra Carlson, Jamestown, was the recipient of the Director’s Award for Counselor Achievement. This award highlights the top 10 percent of counselors with the highest number of individuals placed into employment.
Jennifer Moldenhauer, Jamestown Christie Lazette, Devils Lake, Robert Hendrickson, Fargo, and, were recipients of the Director’s Award for Counselor Achievement – Honorable Mention. This award honors counselors who have the second highest number of individuals placed into employment.
The North Dakota Vocational Rehabilitation program’s mission is to assist individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment opportunities and to assist business owners and employers in finding solutions to disability-related issues.
Bismarck (CSi) The James River Café, sponsored by the North Dakota Farmers Union, has opened in Bismarck’s North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum, at 612 East Boulevard Avenue.
The hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The café is managed by Edgar and Isabel Oliveira, who own the Harvest Brazilian Grill in Mandan.
The James River Café features freshly baked pastries and breakfast sandwiches, bagels, a variety of sandwiches and paninis, soups, desserts, and specialty coffees. As a whimsical nod to the dinosaur casts in the State Museum, the Oliveira’s also offer freshly baked T. rex and Triceratops cookies.

CAYUGA, N.D. (AP) – Authorities say two hunters have been injured in hunting accidents this weekend in Sargent County.
Sheriff Travis Paeper says a 17-year-old boy was struck in the face by shotgun pellets while hunting ducks. He was hunting with another 17-year-old boy from Wahepton.
The injured teen was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Wahpeton with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 47-year-old man was also struck in the head with shotgun near the Tewaukon Wildlife refuge on Friday. His injuries were also not considered life-threatening.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A prominent Jamaican disc jockey has pleaded guilty for his role in a lottery scam case being tried by federal prosecutors in North Dakota.
Deon-ville O’Hara, also known as ZJ Wah Wa, is among 26 people accused of participating in a scheme that induced elderly people throughout the United States to send millions of dollars to cover fees for lottery winnings.
Authorities say O’Hara traveled to the U.S. to pick up money from victims.
Victims included a North Dakota woman who was promised $19 million in winnings, and a South Dakota man who was told he won $3.5 million and a 2012 Mercedes
O’Hara pleaded guilty on Friday to conspiracy, which carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 23 in Bismarck.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A Minot man accused of sending sexually explicit photos to girls and trying to get them to the send him similar photos has pleaded guilty to six felonies.
The most serious charge against 20-year-old Nicholas Thiel is promoting an obscene performance by a minor. The maximum sentence is 10 years in prison. He could face up to 35 years on all of the counts.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors are dropping 10 other charges, including eight felonies.
Police allege that Thiel contacted most of the girls through Facebook, using an alias. He’s to be sentenced Feb. 6.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota is getting $23 million to help low-income people heat their homes this coming winter, on par with what it has received from the federal government in recent years.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps eligible families pay for both home heating and weatherizing. The state’s congressional delegation says the state Department of Human Services will get about $17 million and American Indian tribes will get about $6 million.
Human Services program director Carol Cartledge tells the Minot Daily News that the amount should be enough to help every qualifying family this year.
To qualify, a household can earn up to 60 percent of the state median income. For a family of three, that’s about $43,430 per year before taxes.
The heating season is October through May.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A group of entrepreneurial North Dakotans are trying to capture the state’s pioneering spirit and create a start-up business culture Bismarck.
Start Bismarck is a grassroots organization that aims to foster a culture conducive to start-up companies in the state’s capital city.
Co-founder Garrett Moon says the group aims to bring people together in the city that are already working on creative business ideas on their own.
The group plans to host a “Startup Weekend” in January and hopes to bring TEDx, an idea-sharing event, to Bismarck in the spring.
MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – A consultant says Mandan’s water intake system needs to be replaced.
Kenneth Weber with Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services says the project could take five years to complete, and cost as much as $15 million.
Weber says the Missouri River channel has changed through the years, resulting in sediment buildup at the city’s water intake. The intake was built in the mid-1950s.
Officials are considering the best site for a new intake.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department is encouraging hunters who use boats to wear properly fitted life jackets while on the water.
Boat and Water Safety Coordinator Nancy Boldt says there are hunting jackets available with life jackets already built in, so there’s no excuse not to wear a life jacket.
Boldt says a boat loaded with hunting gear and dogs can quickly become unbalanced, causing hunters to fall overboard or a boat to capsize.
She says eight people have drowned in state waters since 1998 while hunting from a boat, and none was wearing a life jacket.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The University of North Dakota football team has lost its starting quarterback for the rest of the season.
Coach Bubba Schweigert says sophomore quarterback Joe Mollberg injured his right Achilles tendon in Saturday’s loss to Southern Utah and will miss UND’s final four games.
The Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, native started the first eight games of the season, completing 78 of 143 passes for 919 yards and three touchdowns.
Sophomore quarterback Ryan Bartels will take over as the starter.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A task force working on a plan for a new University of North Dakota nickname has scheduled meetings to hear from alumni, students, staff, fans and the general public.
The nickname group is working on a proposal that will be presented to UND President Robert Kelley by the end of the year.
The first meeting is scheduled to be held with student athletes and the student advisory committee on Nov. 5. The task force plans to invite up to 100 people for public meetings on Nov. 6-7.
The school’s Fighting Sioux nickname was retired in June 2012. The Legislature enacted a three-year moratorium on a new moniker.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – The San Francisco Giants have a three-games-to-two lead in the World Series after Madison Bumgarner tossed a four-hitter in a 5-0 shutout of Kansas City. Bumgarner is 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in the series, allowing just one run and seven hits in 16 innings. Brandon Crawford drove in three runs and pinch-hitter Juan Perez broke the game open with a two-run double in the eighth.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Anthony Barr forced a fumble on the first play of overtime and returned it 27 yards to score to give the Minnesota Vikings a 19-13 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Teddy Bridgewater threw for 241 yards, one TD and no interceptions to help Minnesota stop a three-game skid. Mike Glennon’s pass to Austin Seferian-Jenkins gained 10 yards before Barr stripped the ball from the rookie tight end and took it up the left sideline to score.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Drew Brees completed 27 of 32 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns as the New Orleans Saints beat the Green Bay Packers 44-23 last night. Aaron Rodgers was picked off twice and sacked three times. He still passed for 418 yards. But it was not nearly enough to prevent the Packers from falling a game behind NFC North leader Detroit.
Tom Brady was terrific in New England’s 51-23 romp over Chicago, completing 30 of his 35 passes for 354 yards and five touchdowns. He threw three scoring passes to Rob Gronkowski and one each to Tim Wright and Brandon LaFell as the Patriotsd won their fourth in a row to improve to 6-2. The 3-5 Bears fell behind 45-7 early in the second half and lost for the fourth time in five games. Chicago quarterback Jake Cutler finished with 20 completions in 30 attempts for 227 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

RIDGEWAY, Va. (AP) – Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon capped an emotional week for Hendrick Motorsports by finishing 1-2 in the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
Earnhardt claimed his fourth win of the Sprint Cup season, one week after he was eliminated from the Chase for the championship. Gordon had the best finish among the eight remaining contenders for the Sprint Cup title.
The strong performances by Hendrick come on the 10-year anniversary weekend of the fatal plane crash that killed owner Rick Hendrick’s son and nine others aboard.
Chase driver Ryan Newman was third, and Tony Stewart finished fourth. Chase drivers Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth were fifth and sixth.

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) – Robert Streb earned his first PGA Tour win by closing with a 7-under 63 and making a 4-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole in the McGladrey Classic. He won a three-man playoff over Brendon de Jonge and Will MacKenzie. The win sends Streb to the Masters in April. The 27-year-old from Oklahoma has never played in a major.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) – Michael Allen closed with a 6-under 66 to overtake Marco Dawson and capture the Champions Tour’s AT&T Championship in San Antonio.
Allen finished 15-under to beat Allen by two strokes after opening the final round three shots back. Dawson closed with a 1-under 71.
Woody Austin was three shots back and one ahead of Scott Hoch (hohk) and Tom Pernice (pur-NEES’) Junior.

SINGAPORE (AP) – Serena Williams got some revenge in the WTA Finals at Singapore. She had been beaten by Simona Halep (HAL’-ehp) earlier in the tournament, but in the final roared to a 6-3, 6-love win. The loss to the Romanian player was the most lopsided for Williams in 16 years.
She won 11 of the last 12 games in the match to join Martina Navratilova (nah-vrah-tih-LOH’-vuh) and Steffi Graf (grahf) as the only players to win five titles in the season-ending championships.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) – St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Oscar Taveras has died in a car accident Sunday in his native Dominican Republic.
The 22-year-old Taveras made his major league debut this year, hitting .239 with three homers and 22 RBIs in 80 games for the NL Central champions. He was considered the team’s top hitting prospect when he was recalled.

NEW YORK (AP) – State leaders in New York and New Jersey are backing the 21-day Ebola quarantines for medical workers returning from West Africa. They’re at odds with scientists who say the restrictions aren’t needed and don’t track with the current science about Ebola. Meanwhile, Samantha Power, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is traveling in the West Africa outbreak region promising continued U.S. help in the fight against the virus.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) – A court official and news reports say South Korean prosecutors want harsh punishment for the captain and crew involved in a deadly ferry sinking, saying it was their negligence that killed more than 300 people. Prosecutors are asking for the death penalty for the captain and life terms for the top three crew members.
BAGHDAD (AP) – Iraqi officials say a suicide car bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a checkpoint manned by security forces and pro-government Shiite militiamen outside the Sunni town of Jurf al-Sakhar today, killing at least 11 people. The town 30 miles south of Baghdad was just recaptured from Islamic State group extremists. Officials say 23 people were wounded in the car bombing.
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) – An Iranian newspaper reports that a worker from a private company dumped expired pesticides into a wastewater canal, creating a toxic gas cloud that caused at least 130 people to be hospitalized. Most of those injured after inhaling the gas were students in a southern city. The area’s governor says the worker acted out of ignorance.
WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama is taking executive actions today in an effort to bolster manufacturing in the United States. The White House says the action will direct federal money toward new technologies, apprenticeship programs and competitions designed to help small manufacturers. Administration officials consider manufacturing one of the bright spots of the economic recovery.
